A 'happy' Christmas is very much about how you celebrate it and who you spend it with though:love:

You don't have to go out and spend silly money on presents, or even send people cards you don't particularly like, just show people who you love and care about that you really do care about them

My family has always celebrated a more traditional christmas, not getting too caught up in greed and commercialism and instead just trying to get the basics right:thumbsup:

If you wanna go out and get p*ssed and spend most of Christmas feeling rough and hungover that's fine, but you miss out on some of the best stuff:)

I do kinda agree with this tho. That's why xmas aint really that special for me any more. I suppose when I have kids then maybe but not so much now. Although last year when I woke up with Butty and got to spend some time with him was nice

I don't really like my stepdad otherwise xmas dinner probs would've been better. Had a good laugh with my bro and sisters and my mum joined in but he just sits there like a grumpy ol' bastard! :)

Absolutely.

Christmas is what you make it, why get pissed off with it and loose sight of its purpose because people exploit it? People exploit EVERYTHING, accept it, don't let that detract from the happiness it can bring. Simply, instead of being bitter about it, just don't be exploited, you don't have to buy anything, nobody is forcing you; make something, say something nice, or at the very least just enjoy the TV & good grub. True friends will understand your position.

I'm in love with xmas. Quite simply, because of that general air of happiness, amongst everyone  its the nicest, nicest feeling. What in the world is better than everyone being happy together and having an excuse to celebrate together and validate their love for one another? Its pure magic. The only other time you get a natural high in the air like that is on a really sunny day, maybe when England has won a big football match, and everyone is in high spirits, taking time off work, celebrating together.

Its that feeling of shared love, warmth (inner!), happiness, unity, family.....festive spirit that we're innately attracted to. Nothing matters because its xmas, forget your problems temporarily nomatter how big, go home to your family and your cat, and snuggle up in front of the vicar of dibley, be humble, and eat cake.....or even better, go see a pantomime!!

Christmas is, like it or not, always going to be part of our lives, you're stuck with it, tough excrement. You either choose to shun it, and inevitably loose out (like Scrooge), or embrace it and enjoy it in your own way, take and make the most of whatever positives you can get out of it, and choose to make it a happy time (like Davey Crocket), if for no other reason than its the most logically beneficial option. If you don't, the 3 xmas ghosts will come and show you that you are destined to have miserable xmasses for the rest of your life for no reason other than your own stubborness.

I don't mean to be insensitive, I know its a heck of a struggle for some people, money and loneliness being the biggest shitters :( And thats always the way unfortunately. But just look at Li'l Davey Crocket, even with nothing, there is something to smile about.........even if its just because its Christmas :) .

On a sidenote, i'm not bloody done with summer yet!

 well i absolutely love xmas always have always will - its magical
love dressing the tree up
and searching for gifts
being with loved ones
and waking up and sitting in ya jims on xmas morning oooh its magic
kids defo make it though, seeing their little faces light up with such delight that santa has been:D
my lad no longer belives in santa but ive told him woebetied him if he disbelieves in the spirit of santa and xmas as there will defo be no pressies then!

the only ballache i dislike about xmas is the who is going where and when business:( extended families and children in various places trying to keep everyone happy
i shall be very sad on xmas morning this year when i wake and dont see my son all day  but then he really wants to spend this one with his dad, so i have to be happy that they will spend the magic together for a change (tho i shall miss my lad like mad all day)

well at least we will get two xmas's in our house one on xmas day and one of boxing day
