Great artist who's stood the test of time and changed so much since he started out :king:

It's the work of Chris Cunningham who is the twisted mind behind the visual aspect of Mr James' vids though, so hats off to him.

Come To Daddy / Windowlicker are the best vids imo, Donkey Rhubarb as wacky as fuck, On is cracking time/stop in that is superb!

Tracks wise, love loads of his stuff from the serene Rhubarb (Selected Ambient Works Vol II) to the harder stuff on Analord and all the top stuff in between, there's not much of his stuff I didn't like.

Loved his collab as Expert Knob Twiddlers as well :D

Had to laugh at his interviews too about remixing people, being given a deadline to remix a track, he just gave them a DAT on the day of one of his own tracks and fucked them off, it had nothing of their tune in it but the label paid him for it lol :D

Selected Ambient Works 1 & 2 (although part 1 is best imho, 2 is great but much darker)
Polygon Window- Quoth
Joyrex- 4,5 & 9 EPs (especially the 1 with 'On a Romance Tip' on it)
Analord, I bought all of them & like them but don't think they're outstanding, but much better than what many artists release.
AFX 2 remixes EP- he does a remix of 808- Flow Coma (???- think it's that)

Yeah first heard of this Guy about 8 years ago when I saw the Window Licker video on MTV.

Thought it was as weird as fook but found I couldn't turn it over cos I was fascinated so much by it.

So I kept my eye out for more videos on MTV then one night in the early hours of the morning they did a special Aphex Twin video feature (think it was about 7 years ago) & they showed back 2 back Aphex Twin videos.
They were really out there.. but I thought they where intriguing at the same time lol.

2 tracks I like by him are Window Licker & Come To Daddy especially after hearing it in a club in 2006 sounded like absolute madness cranked up but full of energy, not sommet I'd have the balls to play tbh

A disturbing and unpleasant experience.:condom:

Rubber Johnny
YouTube - Rubber Johnny (Aphex Twin Musicvideo)

Rubber Johnny is a 6 minute experimental short film and music video directed by Chris Cunningham in 2005, using music composed by Aphex Twin.
The concept for Rubber Johnny came from Cunningham imagining a raver morphing as he danced. The idea evolved to the present film, in which Johnny (played by Cunningham) is an isolated mutant child with a huge overgrown cranium, strapped into a wheelchair and locked in a basement. Capable of morphing his body, he spends his life trying to amuse himself and his dog, a terrified chihuahua.

Sorry for the post...

Have to agree. Can be a bit hit and miss but Selected Ambient Works Volume 2 is a work of genius, there is really nothing else like it within ambient at all. He supposedly heard the melodies whilst lucid dreaming.

Although I agree that vol 2 is wicked, why do people prefer it to the first volume? Maybe cos it's more depressing?

Brown vinyl looked really cool ?

Dunno, I wouldn't say I prefered Vol II over Vol I, as Vol I is more accessible with proper tracks, when I first heard Vol II I was like "wtf is this shit?" it was only a few years later when I re-listened to it and thought ahh this is really good that I 'got it'.

I think vol 2 has got a beautiful eerie darkness to it, whereas vol 1 is much more happy & is a really uplifting LP, probs my fave of all time.
