Apparently its all different these days...

Last time I went there was a new runaway train ride in the Ocean Beach funfair and a Skytower... But it was still the same depressing out of date seaside resort more or less. But I kind of liked it being like that. Main reason being is that if i go back again any time it will take me back to my childhood days...

Check out photos of Rhyl now and its all soulless fancy flower arrangments (of the modern post-Ground Force varity), marinas and the likes:cry: (a sea life centre i can live with tho)

Bring back the futuristic monorail (that had summat to do with Terry Wogan or summat!?) and that Wrestling arena place. The old Punch&Judy show. Where have all those sea front amusements gone like that Cycle course(lmao) and that pond with those dangerous petrol round spinning speed boat thingys in it!? Long live Rhyl train station, Rhyl Cinema, Rhyl sun centre, the waterchute ride, the wooden rollercoaster, the boat lake and the miniture railway:thumbsup:

Rhyl - bless:)

My mum and dad went about two years ago.......cos we all used to go in the late 80's and early 90's on holidays etc, and it was a great place......

However, what they found when they got there was it was dirty, skanky, dropping to bits, full of litter and pound shops, with houses boarded up, shops boarded up and others open but with shutters closed like its about to be in for a ram raiding or doubling as a Romanian knocking shop.

They said they werent going ever again. Looks like another resort has bitten the dust?

My parents arent even fussy at all, and even they commented on it, so to me, that does speak with some wieght lol.

Perhaps its been pulled out the other side of the run-down mode now?

So thats Llandudno, Rhyll, Western Supermare :)o ) and other such places crossed of the Sirius family route planner, add to it entire London too LOL. Nightmare.

Rhyl- i loved this place tomato soup in the Challets on the sea front

And like mentioned already the kids bikes brilliant

The sea centre is still open i think

If memory serves me right the council built that monorail thing and went bust shorltey after as it costs a fortune and was never used

It all went down hill from there

It actually used to be ok in places back in the day

Now its a very bleak place sadly

Rhyl was one of my 1st Holidays and one i remembered for beeing a belter :D i think i was about 8, 2 weeks in a static, the main thing i remembered was the Sun Center  i thought it was amazing back then, couldn't get enough of the surf pool, then there was that car race track thing, and the monorail that went round the roof and those ice creams :D one memory that stuck with me was seeing a womens tit pop out in the surf pool, i think it was my older sister that spied it 1st, it must have been out for a good 3 minutes before the full top fell down and she then realised, funny as fook it was. :hubba: i remember the monorail along the prom too, but it was the sun center that did it for me, i think i went about 20yr ago, on the way back from picking up a mate i met in corfu from barry island who was heading for a week at mine, and i had ranted on about how good the sun center was, and i think it ended with him not allowed in because he had cut down jeans, but it didn't look as good as i had visions of. the only other thing i could remember was getting caught drinking a mug of wine by my step dad at the caravan so he made me drink it all, and it made me sick :$ ohh and having to go over a railway bridge to get from the site to the sea, to catch crabs. fond memorys, but just looked at those pictures and the place now looks a shit hole :( its the way it goes im affraid Morecambe went the same way, we used to go nearly every week when we were 12/13 ish had railriders tickets so it was 35p return, you could get a £3 band for the pleasure beach and there was the outdoor fun pool, even had the worlds biggest big wheel. theres nothing there now, its been cleaned up alot over the last few years, but not a patch on what it used to be :(
