Some people claim there's minor differences between the two, but if there is, you'd never notice in practice. The service manual for both turntables is identical - so this would suggest that they are exactly the same apart from the colour.There is a MKIII version out of the 1200's now, with a little rim around the start/stop switch to stop you knocking it off by accident & a pitch reset button which lets you get around the little dead zone on the slider around 0% when the quartz lock comes in, so I suppose these would be the best.</blockquote>
