I cant believe its a year since the events of 9/11

I was at work when the news broke and we were all watching things develop of the net, before that crashed with the volume of traffic.

I hope nowt happens today although today would be the perfect opportunity for some saddo loner to cause trouble, particulary in the USA

I know what you mean, This time last year I was off to work totally unaware of what was going to happen.
At 12 noon I was sent home with a migraine and at 2 ish got a call from my boyfriend at the time telling me to put the tv on.

My Brother was in America at the time and was supposed to be in New York but luckly he had stayed on in Tampa for an extra few days. I cant explain the fear I felt waiting for him to call and the relief when he did call.

He is in America at the moment with his girlfriend and I hope he stays safe.

Today is a very sad day and my thoughts go out to all those whose lives were lost or affected last year.

I was at work on a course and they stopped the course for us all to go watch the news breaking on TV.

A very sad day all round. Although I only knew of a couple of people over there (my friend Yvonne and Dara from on here) a tragedy like this hits everyone in similar ways. The wasteful loss of so many lives is terrible even if you've never met any of the people involved.

I hope everyone stays safe today and takes a moment to remember those who can't be with us.

RIP.

I've just been told that our work are NOT observing the minutes silence today

Apparently we can observe itg individually if we want to but they aren't doing anything official and when you work in a call centre its bloody hard for anythign to be silent.

I am furious at their blatant lack of respect :(:(:(:(

Plz could someone let me know what time the silence is & I'm going out then. They can fek off if they want me to be working right then.

Which is a bit of a pisstake cos we stopped for the one for the queen mother !!!

If your management is anything like ours this comes as no surprise anyway ...

I was in a hi fi shop in Chorley buying a new amp and we watched the first tower fall. That'll probably be the only event in my life that I'll never ever forget.
My thoughts are with everyone who lost their lives, and with their friends and families.
I can only hope that nothing like this this ever happens again.

They didn't observe the two minute silence at my new place of work either (typical for them, I am finding out), so I went out to Sainsbury's round the corner and spent it there as they did it properly and I wanted to be with other people.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost a loved one on that never to be forgotten day.

very sad

I remember it like it was yesterday. Everyone a work crowding round a bbc realplayer movie that was crashing as more and more people tryed to log on. Never felt so gutted about the whole thing as yesterday. By the time of the amazing film shot by the two french brothers I was frequently in tears. Feeling claustrophobic when he was under all the rubble etc.
Very interested in the frogs point though when he earlier mentioned in this post the 'shooting down' of the fourth flight. I too remember this being reported and am amazed at the new marketing of this flight as being 'bought down by the passengers' yeah right. The military having to take the plane down if it was heading for the white house but not really being able to admit to killing hundreds of americans...."I know lets pretend that they overpowered the hijackers and caused the flight to crash then they'll be heroes"

It was horrendous, yet surreal and will always stay with me.

I was at work and work more or less next door to century radio. Someone came over from there to tell us the breaking news, And I remember putting the radio on and listening in disbelief as it all unfolded.

My heart will always have a space for those who suffered that day.

In the end we went to the local pub for lunch where they were observing the silence and sat peacefully in the garden to observe it.

I was still fuming about them not observing the silence. I can't remember if we stopped for the Queen Mum tho
