BBC NEWS | England | Oxfordshire | MP quits union over BNP speaker

I've always said give people free speech regardless of whether I believe in the beliefs of those listening...

You don't get brainwashed by listening... you can make up yer own bleeding mind... in fact the more ludicrous the beliefs the bigger a platform should be given so everyone can see what bollocks they are espousing... a bit like the house of commons...

Think free speech is all good and well in theory, until you get the likes of Captain Hook preaching hatred for the west to disillusioned young muslims and equally BNP members preaching their alternative bollox to people gullible enough to believe everything they hear.

At the end of the day it's his decision to resign and no doubt he'll have won himself a few supporters from doing so.

Also it's a conflict of interest from his point of view being a Tory and them being from an alternative party;)

Shooms, I do agree with you mate. Allowing the knob a platform will only give him the chance to make a fool of himself.

However, it would be a shame if this gave him any publicity that adds to his credibility in any way. . . .you know what they say about no such thing as bad publicity!

What really saddens me is that the Oxford Union have invited this man out of some silly desire to court controvercial headlines and they should grow up.

They all know he is full of shite, they all know it will cause trouble, they all know it will offend people and they still invite him anyway. It's a waste of time and the Oxford Union have cheapened their reputation.

????????

I think Griffin has every right to get up and speak as long as he stays within the boundaries of the law.

The other idiot Irving on the other hand is a vile lying piece of trash who should never get a platform to preach his falsehoods. His subject matter is reprehensible and his claims have been proved false in a court of law.
