Hi guys,
I have just bought the above and I am looking really forward to learning how to use it. I am a total novice and don't have a clue what I am doing. A friend at Uni put Ableton 8 on my laptop. I am thinking at first I just want a standard synth interface to use on my laptop screen, but I can't seem to find it, if it is even possible. I really want to use this bit of kit, and not put it on the pile with my guitars etc that I spent a bomb on but never use.

I'm old...but sweet man...Akai was deffo the top dog back in the day...my Akai samplers were the nutts.
Can you not use Cubase? sure it's a monster of rock now...was awesome when I used to use it and will have untold plug ins and synth expanding possibilities man...drop stuff straight in as wav/mp3 etc , plus all the midi stuff...I particularly found Cubase easy to use and figure out...but I started using it in 95, so I was a bit familiar with the layout i suppose. Most of the time I would just use it as a "remix" platform...chop/cut/paste and then add and pad with any applicable synth sounds after I got the initial layout down.
I don't have any of that software that will work on a new OS tho mate...sorry, but I would think you'll find a crack out there thats solid...lol..I only bought it once anyway.

I was going to buy an actual mini synth like a microKorg but thought I'd try this out first and at the same time save me some cash lol.
