alpha dy - chicago trip........ what is it about this tune that makes it so expensive every time one turns up on gemm or e bay..... i just don't get it.
it's an italian tune that sounds like lots of belgium techno out then.
did the pope sign it with his own blood , then handed it to sasha in shelleys while he was doing a 1 handed hand stand and mixing 2 copies of laura palmer or something?? :D
1 tune that i would put in the same genre and out about the same time is...
the mackenzie - party people ... 100 times better and found in lots of 50p crates....am i missing something??
p.s. i hope i don't bump the price of the mackenzie up by this post :D

I'm just hoping that someone like Simply Vinyl license it and repress it.. then I would laff soooo hard
It makes me laff because most of the people who complain are also part of the cause. I bet 99% of peeps on this board would bid up to 40/50 squid to get this choon only to re-sell it on eBay for a profit. We should all embrase the communist ideals and share our records. Come on peeps.. some one share their laura palmer and alpha dy with me :):fekked: :D

parp :)

to say alpha dy not worth the money goes against every thread on here over the past two weeks, its so hyped it will go for the money, i'd love a copy but wouldn't pay more than £100 for it. you'll see i always bid it up to £100 on ebay.

I love this tune, its pure cheese but there's something about it.

i've got about 1000 tunes which i personally prefer to this, i've got all these and I paid between 3p & £30 for them

they're all special because they all remind me off happy times,

the amount of funky US house, which most of you won't have heard of, are just as special TO ME, but can be found in bargain bins all over the country.

THE REASON EVERYONE WANTS ALPHA DY IS BECAUSE OF GOOD MEMORIES OF HEARING IT, IT MIGHT BE HYPED BUT ANYONE WHO'S HEARD IT IN A CLUB WILL APPRECIATE......THE PLACE GOES OFF!!!

ITS RARE SO IT ATTRACTS A HIGH PRICE TAG

ONE TUNE WHICH WOULD BE AS RARE WOULD BE ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ITALIAN TUNES EVERY PRODUCED FROM 1989

TECHNO AGE "MOVING ON", THIS SELLS FOR £100 ON THE ORIGINAL A.R. COPY.

:fekked: :fekked: :fekked: :fekked: :fekked: :fekked: :fekked:
IF IT HADN'T BEEN BOOTLEGGED SO MUCH HOW MUCH WOULD THIS BE WORTH NOW!!!!!

There's a Laura Palmer that went on ebay last night if anyones interested.

It all comes down to taste and preference at the end of the day and how much your willing to pay for a record. I guess some people take advantage of that fact and exploit in turn raising the prices.

It's just rare isn't it. It was on a little Italian label that didn't get picked up by anybody else - W.P. Staff, 1 release as far as I know. Q Words is similar with the True People label - although there are other (poor) releases on that.

Plus Alpha Dy's take on Chicago Trip is just a fcuking great tune. IMO, definitely better than the Mackenzie originals / remixes.

Apart from Sasha, I only remember hearing it played out once in the day. It was played as one the last 3 songs at one of the Stalybridge do's. Incidentally the other 2 were Love Is The Message Remix and then he finished with Oceanic - Insanity (which bizarrely enough in it's pre-release / our drug fuelled days was HUGE). Don't know who the DJ was but he knew which tunes rocked.

Simply vinyl may release it but I don't know how hard it would be to track down the artist/label.

It's an odd one Techno Age, because the label is quite a big label - American Records. The release after Techno Age was Last Rhythm which obviouly was HUGE and also sold a lot of units. I'm pretty sure Last Rhythm had more than one pressing though - the first pressing had picture sleeves, the others just had a plain black sleeve. I also think American Records knew they were onto something big with Last Rhythm because the little label logo changed to that crazy sort of jumbled up letters which if you look carefully actually says "Post Ritmo" which is Italian for "after rhythm". All subsequent releases had this logo as well (until about AMR 057) - therefore were they after (Last) Rhythm?

I reckon if Techno Age had been after Last Rhythm it would have been a lot less rare.

Wonder how many people are sat on stuff like Techno Age and Alpha DY and don't actually realise how in demand the actual records are?

People who DJd or collected and now just have a wedge of records in their loft?

I was speaking to my mate who plays out all the time now (new stuff) who was also buying back then - he went home and pulled out Alpha DY although he said he would never part with it purely because of the 'good times' he associates with the record.

I've recently seen a red label copy of the "original" exactly same print and mixes as the original (3 inlcuding ambient)
lol that's the beggar - I was racking my brains to back up my extra pressing theory thinking "I'm sure my mates copy has something different again about it", couldn't remember though - bloody Red Label :axe:

It's therefore got to have had a few pressings hasn't it.

thanks for all the feedback, i suppose if this record really means something to you , then some people are prepared to pay top $$ for it....... i remember 3 beat recods getting a few copies in and only a handful of dj's buying it.....it did get a play in quadrant park but was not one of the most memorable from that era , in the quad anyway......... that's why it baffled me what all the hype was about.....same with techno age... i didn't know it was such a sought after tune till i joined osa ........
it's nice to know though that we are all still as passionate about these tunes today as we were back then

I really don't think Alpha DY is rare you know. I know at least 7 of my mates who have a copy and it just sits there in a small collection in the back room or the loft, most haven't got decks anymore but they just can't be arsed to sell their records. There must be loads of people like that about. I remember buying mine at the time from Hotwaxx in Warrington. They had at least 10 in the racks that day. Plus it constantly comes up on Ebay.

Musically it's awful I think, I suppose I just keep it for the memories, don't think I've played it within 10 years though and can't see me doing much in the future. I had no idea it was sought after until I came across this site either, same with all the other records that command big money. If I ever needed the money, Alpha would be first to go ;)

slag alpha dy off, but you can't slag techno age of, its one of the best & earliest (1989) italian "sampling" piano tunes

Absolutely. Techno Age makes an appearance at number 4 in my Italian Piano tune chart, pop pickers. Tis true what someone said earlier that if this tune ws only available on it's original label, the price would be astronomical.
