slag alpha dy off, but you can't slag techno age of, its one of the best & earliest (1989) italian "sampling" piano tunes
who's slagging the tunes off?? i bought both these tunes when they came out because i liked them ....i'm asking what all the hype is that's all...... we all have are preferences with tunes... that's what's great about this music we all danced to and loved when it first came out ........ a "trophy" tune to me would be something like cybrotron - techno city(not the repress lol ) , was virtually impossible to get a copy in 1984.... i got one as a nice chrimbo prezzie

Totally agree with Neil's comment about Alpha being sought after coz its on stacks of Sasha sets....

I've only heard it played out 'back in the day' by Sasha - & it was on stacks of Sasha tapes I had from back then too...

Took me bastard YEARS to find the ID - got from Mike Cawlish @ HTFR - the best lad they ever had there n a right friendly Sasha tune nut too :D

For me its memories with that tune & it was my nbr 1 most wanted ID.... I nearly wept when I finally had the vinyl ;)

I think Jonno posted some time ago that he got the ID from Sasha himself back in the day when they played on the same night @ Monroes in 1991... apparently Sasha told him "yer never gonna get one tracked down"... well :moonie: Mr Coe lolol :D

Sasha's lost it in that article. I always thought the Shelleys tapes I had were some of the least cheesy from that time, of all the clubs. Ironically he's played cheesy rave from the mid-nineties onwards, catering for the lowest common denominator, and doesn't even realise it.

He also mentioned in another article that he was thinking more 1985 than 2005 with regard to his music?

To be honest I never really rated Sasha way back when. Today he still rams out Sankeys 10 times over when he plays - I just can't get into the music.

sasha cheesy no way

sasha has always played upfront progressive house since leaving shellys,
yes some of the tapes from late 91 have got some cheesy turkeys on there but at the time every club in the land was selling out and giving the mainsteam clubbers what they wanted, which a good working dj will do , play to the crowd, not just up his own arse ! like the quadrant park , it was finished in late summer 91 (rofos theme,2 unlimited ect) ,after that the music went in several differnet ways , you didnt here jungle, hardcore, techno,us garage, italian house, under the one roof ever again

and now he's totally left the two technics turntables and mixer behind .... he's gone and built himself a hand made controller which he uses to program alberton live and do his whole set digitally .....

quoted from the sasha newsletter :

It's Sasha's new party/residency in NYC and LA and will serve as the introduction of a new piece of technology inside the DJ booth - MAVEN - his one of a kind, custom designed controller. Creating a live 100% digital experience using this controller, an Apple laptop and Ableton Live software, Sasha will be leaving the turntables behind. The new controller allows Sasha to not only exhibit his stellar track selection and mixing skills, but to literally re-edit every song he's playing on the fly. With the ability to sample, loop, and fuse elements from multiple songs at once through digital technology, Sasha will truly be revolutionizing his live DJ performance.

"I built a custom controller because I think the idea of DJing with a mouse isn't very cool. Everything on the screen can be manipulated with this controller." Sasha told LA City Beat (June 24-30, 2004). "The accessibility of music via the internet has taken some of the mystery away from DJing," he continues. "I used to come to America and play for people; there was no way they could get those records, or if they could it would take months of searching, and so there was a uniqueness to my sound. In the last 3-4 years new electronic music tracks have become so available on the internet mere days after their release that it's now pushing DJ's to really up their game. This technology will move things forward and enable you to give unique performances every time you play. A set of Technics turntables and a mixer is not enough for me now. It's time to move on."

technics long gone

sasha is so behind the times, i fucked my 1210s off 10 years ago, now i just use 2 FISHER PRICE wind up record players , dead handy even got a slot to carry a few of you records underneath , mixing is a bit limited though , camp town races dub into old macdonalds farm-appella only works so often, so if anyone has ALPHA DY on a green or yellow 6" plastic disc to sell me then id be over the moon, that would really get things going for my next dj set, :D
