a bit of cheese spread on that arm should stop you taking any chunks out of it. the last thing we need is ben with a scabby arm

Wouldn't bother with any nicotine patches or any of that nonsense m8, it's not the physical nicotine addiction which is hard to get over, its the association of when you used to have one - have a pint, you have a ciggie, when you have a coffee break, you have a ciggie etc. So you just don't know what to do with yourself in those situations. The problem with the fake nicotine inhaler things it looks a bit daft with one of them in your gob, so I bought myself a gimp mask with one of those big red apple type things to go in your mouth instead to save any embarrasement.

Wud deffo recommend a book called Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking funnily enouff by Allen Carr. Me ma tried everything 2 stop & after reading this book she stopped & has never had any cravings/mood swings etc that u normally get. Know a few other peeps that have stopped with the help of this book. Gud luck m8 it ain't easy but if u wanna stop then am sure u will :D

Yeah, I gave up in 2000 using the Alan Carr book - very, very good. I must admit for the first 2 weeks I did use patches (and found them good - whether it was phychological (big word) or not I needed something!).

I still have the occasional craving but it is well under control now. I kept myself as active as possible but don't do what I did and ate too much to compensate - still paying the price now!

Good luck - keep it up you've cracked it after the first week (especially first proper weekend).

I loved smoking but I love it even more being a non-smoker - and so does everyone else around me.

Luv Cookie xx

i smoked for bout 4 yrs on n off, altho from like 15-19
not as hardcore as u older lot, but in the last 2 yrs i was deffo havin bout 100 a week
i quit cold turkey, and within a month put on a stone
lol now i actually look healthy, as im 6ft and used to weigh 10st

been quit 7 months now n dont really need one anymore, if sum1 smokes near me it makes me feel sick, and if sum1 has been smoking they smell really bad
just the thought that i used to smell like that is enuff to stop me goin back

every time u want a fag, just eat summat instead it works
u feel better, rather than bein hungry and smokin

the end of the day u gotta want to quit enuff or ull just go bk

anyways god luck :)

i reckon if you've gone 3 days then you've almost done it!!

i packed in a bout 4 weeks ago and after about 3/4 days i kinda knew i'd packed in.
i smoked for 12 years and tried to give up loads of times...i reckon this time i was ready to stop cos it wasn't really too bad, i didn't use any patches or inhalers.

well done!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D

jayne x

also it's just a few crappy days in y' life to stop smokin'...then you'll feel better and have more money...that's how i looked at it anyway

Aye mate.. I'm thinking of trying to quit this weekend. You have 2 milestones to aim for... 1 week is the first, this is the end of any serious physical addiction. 3 weeks in and your body has adapted to a nicotine free existance. After 3 weeks, if you have cig its due to mental weakness cause its not physical addiction after this point.

10 years from now your chance of getting cancer has reduced to the same odds as a non-smoker.

Good Luck with it.

after quitting i started goin the gym bout 3 months ago n ive never felt better - try n find summat to get interested in, summat healthy
i used to smoke playing pool, the fruit machines, drinking, when i was bored.... do summat healthy n its an extra incentive to stop coz u dont wanna waste ur efforts

thing is u see ppl work out for an hour plus, on the runners n everything, then come out the door n spark up?
kinda defeats the object of doin cardio really....

tis wierd

But it seems like a fair few of us gave up in the past few weeks.....so the question is

"who's controlling our thoughts?"

I reckon that it's butty stickin in bits of special html that flash up subliminal messages...stop smoking....eat cheese....send me some money :)

Seriously tho...I've done 3 weeks on friday and havent actually thought of having a cig once...moving house takes yer mind off things

keep it up guys...you know it makes sense !!
