There is a local amature dramatics company here in Darwen, and one of the chaps i work with is doin a bit of advertising for their current play (little shop of horrors)

he has just asked me to put up a few posters in our office...so i got chatting to him. he said they are very short of people to join their group esp for next yr as they are doin 'GUYS & DOLLS' and would i be interested in joining.

Not sure what they really do there or what is involved especially on the time scale side of things.

I have to say i quite fancy having a go but im not sure i would have the time to do it...anybody else been involved in this sort of thing :D ?

Sorry, but the mention of amature dramatics just reminds me of Derek Wilton off Corrie. :S

ello mate I used to do this :)

Its pretty time consuming, which is why I gave it up. Learning your lines and rehersals always takes time....expect lots of weekends spent all day rehersin your lines.

to be honest I found it fun at first, but then I used to do it at school, but when it got in the way of my social life I got peed off with it and gave it up.

totally go for it. It is rewarding, funny and good for your soul imo. Ive always been involved in theatre, drama, dance since being a wee nipper. I was in alsorts of drama societies etc. My mother had a dance school years ago. So I was always on the stage. But like Minxy says, can be stressfull come production time, rehearsals being boring from repetition etc. But when you actually get out there it's really rewarding, knowing what hard work you have put in and seing it all for the reason you did it. Theres not a feeling quite like it. If you don't want too much of your time taken up, don't take a principal role, just do somthing in the courus or somthing with not many lines etc.
TBH, I have been thinking about doing somthing like this myself recently. Get back into the swing of things. I say go for it, just to try at least....

im like herpes....never quite fcuk hoff!!!
just a thought debs, i know your good with your sewing and creative stuff, and also you wana get involved in the am dram, so going off what lozzie has just said about not taking a principal role....................why dont you combine the 2 and offer to help out within the costumes/wardrobes dept?????

your still being creative but dont have to fork out for the gear coz they pay for the materials etc..... you could get involved in the am dram by being maybe and understudy incase anybody is off etc......and also have a laugh in the process:thumbsup:

just a thought:thumbsup: but i still think the jewelry idea is your best bet:thumbsup:

If youve the gift of the gab, and feel at home with people etc, bit outgoing etc, thats what I get the impression you need to be like.

Think its a bad idea then for me...cus im not particularly that outgoing tbh....people are always very surprised when they meet me as to how quiet i actually am...little mouse when i wanna be.....and im not beaming with confidence either.......so i think ill look for something a little less public....:$
