Is right Alex - nice venue - normally not too hot either.
Gday peeps...
Jamii - you must have forgotten what we talked about earlier in Jan ;o)
Aye, the Fridge is only a few mins walk down Brixton Hill from my place... capacity is well up to 1000+
It was refurbished late last year, but I've not been in there recently, so I can't tell you what the 'new decor' is like.
It has a fair mo'fo of a main dancefloor, with side sections that they sometimes open - plenty of open plan walkways/stands around the floor, and easy access all round. They also have smaller rooms that are sometimes open - I've been some nights and only the main floor is going strong. Mainly hard house, and bouncy acid techno/trance nights. And be careful you don’t get mixed up with any Love Muscle nights. You wouldn’t be the only bloke there (if you know what I mean). Rarely any trouble in there - they have the Fridge Bar next door, which is patrolled by somewhat large local boys - nice, but tight security.

There's also the 414 Club on Coldharbour Lane (capacity a couple of hundred - very intimate, great atmosphere if people are on a good one), reknowned for being the latest club to open in London - they have a night that starts at 10pm Sunday, goes through to 6am Monday morning - you should see the place on a Bank Holiday weekend (I've been at Hazy's over the past few, so couldn't tell you what its been like of late). It can get a little weird on Sundays/Mondays as all the serious hardcore clubbers from around town go there when they should really be behind closed doors chilling out. An experience nonetheless.

Also try the "George IV", which is worth the 5 mins walk up the Hill - its a pub thats been converted into a nice club - if the 414 is terrible, people will pile up to the George... they have a nice setup there - good security and smiley people.
Alex - not sure about the estate you refer to bro, Brixton has plenty all around it... could be the block down Coldharbour Lane, opposite a small club called Medusa? (I believe the architect of the estate block killed him/herself as they could not believe how bad it looked and the levels of estate-crime it created).
Brixton now consists of dj-bars and 'funky' gastro-pubs that serve up mixes of [yes, i hate that word 'funky' too... but you get the idea eh ;o) ] jazzy left of centre lounge house and soul/rare groove etc (for all the mullet/shaven haired advertising/meedja hacks that have moved in).
Dogstar? Schmogstar... full of Hoorays from Clapham getting driven to the door by a black cab and then running inside lest they see a local brixton-dweller (we are soooo common you know). Living Room? You'd do better to stay in your lounge.
The Telegraph at the v.top of the Hill has some wicked nights.... breaks, decent techy house, minimal techno, proper south london d'n'b... B/Jaxx used to host nights there a few years back. Nice crowd. Check the listings, they change weekly.
Not forgetting the Bug Bar (vaulted bar/club underneath St Matthews Church opposite the Fridge), MASS (now hosting the dnb night Movement if memory serves me right) which is a freaking great venue... only 3 rooms, but I always get confused whenever I'm there lol. and also 3rd Base.
There are also a lot of local pubs and bars that don't advertise in a serious way - Tongue n Groove (is it a bar or a 70s p0rn film set?) Brixtonian Havana Rum Bar (4am bump n grind business fulled by giggles, rum and bubbly), Bar Lorca (anyone for salsa?). Then there's the jazz pub The Effra Tavern (go down with your sax and jam with the crazy cats), or the Hobgoblin for comedy.
Hope this helps... BT.
