Ola,

My comp is absolutely riddled with virus'. I cannot connect to the internet, and my current antivirus (avast)...has totally not cut the mustard. When I run the scan, it gets so far-then the whole machine cuts out...like the plug has been taken out...naughty naughty.

Im in the process of clearing out my machine and getting ready to put stuff on an external hard drive...but I wanna know where the virus is. i know it'll be a music file ive downloaded...(stupid lozy). If it weren't for my tunes Ive bought off beatport, I wouldn't be arsed-I'd just wipe the lot and re install windows. But I want the safe tunes...any ideas?????

Does anyone have a tiptop mac daddy antivirus that can do the biz on this fking virus (that has been the bane of my life for months now)

xxx thanks xxx

Or try to get AVG 8 on ya system to clean things up, i use AVG free version and it squashes Trojans before they get into ya system and sorts them out effectivly if they slip the net (coz you opened a torrent b4 scanning it or something :p)

I know you said you have no net, but you can download it and save the set-up file on cdr, then open it on effected pc to install :)

+1 to malwarebytes anti malware. Cracking program one of the best out there at the moment.

Your best bet is to run a few programs and see if you get the same results.
Ive just very good results with the online virus scanners which are all free to use. Here's a few of the ones i use;-

TREND MICRO HouseCall 6.5
Free Virus Scan - Kaspersky Lab
Free ESET Online Antivirus Scanner

If you have a copy of the suspect file and nothing seems to be detecting it you could try this;-
VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan

That scans suspect files against approx 50 AV company's databases.

if that dosnt work you could try hijackthis. Hijackthis is just a scanner which generates a log report which you submit to the hijack this forum. Once its been inspected they can recommend you appropriate action. Its by far not the easiest option but its meant to be quite good for finding really nasty bits of malware. Here's the links;-
TrendSecure | TrendMicro™ HijackThis™ Quick Start Guide

and submit the log file to this forum

might sound silly but have you tried scanning in safe mode with no net connection, i had a problem a while back every time my scanner found it my pc shut down, when i scanned in safe mode i got rid of it.
