when I turn my car to the right hand side at about 10 MPH theres a scraping sound from the left hand side front wheel, it sounds a bit like metal scraping along metal.

I know the brake pads are worn and am going to change these but that wont be whats causeing the scraping sound as im not breaking.

Anyone know what it could be ?

the body could be falling off..

the wheel arches on the inside where they get caked in mud..they will corrode and break away.....take a look

cheers fella but the body works fine theres no rust on it anywhere, im thinking it my be more like a bearing or summat like that but im pretty shit with cars, i was hoping someone may have had the same problem and let me know what was wrong with theres then I can check it like :)

Check the actual discs, if the pads are worn badly, it will be metal on metal and you will hear some noise even tho u aint braking.

would this be only heard though when turning to the right and not to the left ?

Unless the wearing on the left pad maybe worse than that on the right ?

It could be the disc back plate or some pads have wear indicators on them that rub on the disc when the pads are getting low..By turning the lock one way you put pressure on things in that direction.

It could also be something as simple as the mudflap.???

If the CV joint are worn they make a knocking noise when you throw on full lock. :D

this sounds exactly the same as what happened to my car .... the guy in the garage gave it a quick run on the road for me and immediately told me that i had a knackered wheel bearing in my left wheel, he said that it would cost £70 including labour to fix ... which doesnt sound too bad .....

with mine, every time i turned to the left there was this kind of clonkin noise that keep swirling round as the wheel rotated (like one of those annoying clicker things that you swang round as a kid) .... well actually thats a shite description lol but anyways this could be the answer to your problem mate, but whatever happens, it shouldnt be that much to repair .....

its not a nocking sound its just like a scrape sound when I turn right and only when I turn right, I thought it may be a wheal bearing meself at first, Im obviously guna have to take it in a garage and get it looked at proper cause you cant see feck all looking at it

Thanks for all the advise though :D
