Is anybody mithered. They spent a load of money on and tried to put old skool nights on but what they did'nt realise was the fact that most old skool ravers don't wanna wear prada shirts to get into a club. Hopefully someone might make something decent out of it

Official Statement

As of today the 1st October 2003, Ascension Leisure LTD ceased trading. We go with our heads held high, safe in the knowledge that we gave it our very best & that throughout our period of trading, we always did things as we set out to do & pride ourselves on the fact that we always stayed true & never ‘had anybody over’ There are many reasons that have resulted in this incredibly sad conclusion & we’d like to thank everybody that helped make the 10 months we have been trading as some of the happiest of our lives.

As you can imagine, we are in a state of shock at the moment & will be contacting everyone personally to thank them for everything they have done for us. An official statement will follow very soon.

i agree with u easty mate the place was way to posh for a old skool doo - from my experience people who like the tunes aint arsed about shirt and tie dress codes they want sumwhere dark dinjy loud as hell the atmosphere does the rest.

i heard that the bouncers were picky as hell as to who they let and in didnt which put a lot of people i know off going coz they couldnt b botherd just trying to get in somewhere only to be told that the doormen didnt like there clobber.

As it said in the statement they did try and do things the right way and imo went a little over the top having dj after dj plus pa every night.

I guess the level of business they were getting just didn't meet the level of cost they had ..

As well as timeless mate there is also SUBSTANCE in oldham, have a look at the events section for more details. They you have got maximes at the end of every month which is well worth the trip and Shades of rhythm are doing a gig at the phoenix on Oxford road in November
