Cool Edit Pro / Adobe Audition has a pretty good hiss/noise reduction feature on it so you might want to try that.

As for removing the MC's, it would be impossible.

Mate no offence but the way you type makes you look like an idiot :S
Why not try reading your reply to see how illegable it is before you post more txt talk gibberish lol

I'll tell you how to use noise reduction on tapes using Cooledit allthough you could have just read the help file you get with it as it tells you this so if your having trouble with a new program R.T.F.M.

Record your tape into Cooledit making sure you start recording before the music comes in so theres a part at the start that just has tape hiss or other background noise.

Select a short range (at least one half second) that contains only the noise that you'd like to reduce.

Choose the Effects > Noise Reduction > Noise Reduction option and click on Get Profile from Selection to sample the noise.

Click on Close.

Select the entire file (or the portion you want to noise-reduce).

Go to Effects > Noise Reduction >Noise Reduction again.

Click on OK to perform the noise reduction.

If the recording has no tape hiss/noise at the start then you will have to use hiss reduction (this doesnt do it as good as the noise reduction way above)
Again quoted from the help file.

To use, choose an FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) Size first.

Then either reset the noise floor graph to Hi (High), Med (Medium), or Low, depending on the estimated noise level of the recording. Or, find a section relatively free of audio that contains mostly hiss and click Get Noise Floor.

Finally, choose how much to reduce hiss by, and try a few times reducing hiss from a short sample with different noise floor modifier settings.

When you’re satisfied with the results, process the entire area you want to remove hiss from.

Seriously mate you just proved your the idiot I thought you were, I told you how to do it & all you give back is abuse after I just made the inconspicuous comment that your post was illegible & perhaps you should read through what you type before you press post.
If its too hard for you to follow instructions then your beyond helping.

What ya wanna do mate is put the tape in the washing machine, and hook up the tumble dryer for when it's finished it's 'cycle'.

A cycle is just like playing the tape, it's a 'techy' term but we won't go into that hehe

orrrr jear, what you lot like eh?! give ya heads a wobble and chill out.

I use soundforge 6, meself like, and all you need do is fiddle around with the menu's with small mp3 clip of ya track and see what you can do to it, when you've sussed it out, then load in the file you wanna mess with and bobs yer fanny's slippers or sommat like that :axe:

I think Jaz made a fair comment about not writing your post as if you were sending a text message. Some people find it annoying and hard to read.

Punctuation anyone? There seems to be some going spare on this board at the moment. :D j/k.

Well, as above really. Sometimes in the past Ive sent the tape machine through my headphone output jack or my mini studio mixer before I record it, some old ones are really dodgy and I could tweak hiss and make use of Dolby B, Dolby C etc before it was actually inputted.

On my old computer, processing a 90minute file for backround noise and hiss took ages, so I gathered that aslong as it wasnt severely detremental to the sound, Id do most the processing whilst I recorded it in the first place :).

Cheerio
