When I record from vinyl (via mixer) to PC using Audio Cleaning Lab, I sometimes get little "jumos" in the recording where about a second has been missed out, like the software hasn't recorded that bit. This usually happens about 2/3 times during 1 hours mixing.

Thought it might be when screen saver kicks in that this might affect the recording onto PC. However, disabled screen saver and its still happening. Anyone any ideas why? Is it maybe cos there's another prog running somwwhere in background affecting recording process?

It might be something as simple as defragging your hard drive.

I used to get this problem when recording into Sound Forge. I would know when it happened as the seconds counter would stop at the bottom of the screen, but continue at the top, so it would have stopped recording, the bad bugger.

I defragged me drive and it never did it again (you need to keep on defragging your drive, about once a month if you hammer the audio on it)

feck wish i read this post a few weeks back, i have been having same problems with audio drop out. I just thought my comp was old and could not handel things anymore (should not have been a problem as new 7200rpm drives were installed last year and more memory) - so i went and bought a new one puter. doh

I had this problem a while ago, took me ages to work out what the fek was causing it, and it turned out to be my network cable.
