Sorry Im not a beacon of light and unquestionable optimism, but harsh reality on such issues tends to get in my way. If you would have read what I put before (the last time this band aid thing came up), you will be aware that I said I was going to contribute but not going to buy the record. What does tend to annoy me is, yes, poeple are dying and hungry, but this time round its aimed at the Sudan crisis again inparticular and Im afraid until the 'boring' underlying problems are sorted out or even discussed properly without fear and skirting of uncomfortable truths, we will be throwing a piss pot full of money at Africa forever and still getting nowhere until an enevitability which quite frankly I find incomprehensable. If it helps save a few lives short term, of course Im going to contribute, dont be daft, but the history of whats been going on doesnt enthuse me to simply keep tackling things after the event. Similar to last time in the 80's, although not exactly the same this time round as they are even turning on thier 'own' this time around aswell as the usual category, even suggestively asking them if "they know its Christmas time" just clarifies the absurdness of the general perception to me. The displacement of peoples in their millions, thier homes being burnt down, goods looted, rape, genital mutilation solely to hinder conception, and blatent genocide by whatever other term you care to name it has happened for a reason, and the government there has, and does, allow it to happen for its own demented perception of correctness which carries the same core as the "janjaweed" (I believe) on principles and attitudes for they are essentially of the same fold. Yeah, guess which demented ideology lies behind it. No prizes for guessing though, and no its not a simple bit of land dispute as some people would have you believe, or the fact that they are simply destitute. Its a whole myriad of things, with one distinct feature again which I wont even bother going into. I know exactly what RTD is talking about, and I fully agree, Im also aware of Northern Star's debt issues, and again I fully agree, but what we will never agree on it seems is seeing this situation ever being sorted out until certain ideologies, tenents and principles are extinguished or partitioned off from the world at large. Scrap the debt? Sure, its a good idea and good aim. Help out those displaced people and stop them dying, sure, lets help them out any way we can. To go on turning a blind eye, refusing to accept a very difficult problem in the world today, and keep letting it happen and then throwing money at damage limitation, having to listen to plastic popsters bang on with no clue and do gooders with blinkers on banging on about generalisations and not concerning themselves with 'why' but (although its understandable) how to deal with immediate problems after the event, Im afraid I will need to remain slightly pessimistic and arguable over the subject matter. Ms Tickle, I'll be having words with you later young lady :ghost: lol. Chin up mukka's, lets all do a bit, and hell, I may even buy that bloody record too. lol. Seriously. Sirius.
