A bunch of us are heading to Barcelona for a stagger. Anyone been there recently and able to recommned a good hotel? so many to choose from.

Any hot spots for a night out would be welcome as well.

top city mate, been there a couple of times, could live there for a while if I had to,. I guess it depends on what you're into as to where you stay. The main drag in the city is La Ramblas, but I hate it down there, its like a bad night in Cardiff, no joke...was there a couple of years a go on a stag and walked into this bar full of english people, it was right moody in there, thought it was gonna kick off, so avoid that if you wanna soak up some authentic local stuff. Plus its where all the pickpockets operate. Typical of any main area full of tourists, so get yourself off the beaten track of you can. There were some top little bars in the gothic quarter full of locals, much nicer vibe and a beautiful part of the city, so if you can get a place to stay around that area then you're onto a winner.

ive also been there on a stag 4 nighter, and like already said la rambla can be dodgy especially the bottom end on a night with pickpockets, so are most of the little side alleys that run off from it, but dont be put off just keep your witts about you and dont stagger around there alone leathered in the early hours and if a total stranger starts trying to get friendly and put his arm around you to talk football you can bet your last euro another hand is in your pocket like most tourist spots you will be easy pickings if your hammered i liked the bars round the olympic port Barcelona Olympic Port we stayed in a hotel at the top end of le rambla which was ok but nothing special. barca is a cracking place with loads to see and do, im sure you will have a great time where ever you go

Stayed in a cheap little hotel mid-way down the Ramblas on my mates stag about 7 years ago. The comment about the Ramblas being a bit dodg yare right but its ok if there a few of I cant remember much of the weekend but ended up in a top techno club near the harbour/beach on the Saturday. I think we were the only Brits in there. Sorry cant be of much more help - enjoy your trip

Been there 8 or 9 times. Stay outside the Rambles if you can. There is a hotel up near La Caixia bank that, I think it is a holiday inn.

Do be careful on the main strips though. Pick pockets are very good. Even if you think you know what you are doing. You dont. Beleive me

I got done for 100 euros.

Yep I been, was there for a day trip but was staying a few miles up the coast.

I would recommend seeing the Nou Camp, I aint been to many footy grounds but that was well worth it.

thanks for all the feedback. Not going until the end of April so you'll have to wait until them for the full report. 20 blokes for 5 nights so there should be plenty to write about...

As has already been said, watch out for pick pockets and muggers. 2 woekmates got done 4 times in two nights including quite a threatening mugging with a dozen spanish lads and a few knives.

DO NOT talk football or attempt to play football with the locals. They WILL rob you..
