Right, I downloaded some software that didn't install. Got a bit suspicious and did a full virus scan. The scan picked up this which I then deleted. The problem is that now I can't delete the original zip file that I downloaded. It just tells me that it can't delete because the file is in use. I've tried to put the file into quarentine and that won't work either. Can anyone help me out with this please?

A quick and easy way is to:

1. Open up Windows Task Manager
2. Kill explorer.exe in the process list
3. Click "File", "New Task" and type "cmd" in Windows Task Manager
4. Find the file in the DOS box and "del filename"
4. Type explorer.exe to restart your shell

I use method this a lot. I know you've already done it but this is a good method to try next time it happens :)

Regards,
f.

another reason

why it probably wouldn't delete was if you downloaded it with p2p software and the p2p software was still running and poss someone d/ling that zip file from you, windows wouldn't let it be touched unless you closed the p2p software from running in the background.
