Failing that go with a Sempron 3100+ (or superior), they are availble in socket 754 format and thus are 100% compatible with A64 motherboards.
Whats with the new Sempron processors from AMD? Are they no longer doing the Athlons? Are they better than Athlons, its just that a lot of the prebuilt systems are now shipping with Semprons rather than Athlons. Im just looking for work, because the tight fisted f*ckers are STILL using 8 year old computers and windows 98. I feel they desperately need at least two new ones, and windows XP pro each for the three of us, with atleast 64DDR or 128MB graphics, atleast 2,200mhz chip and 512DDR to 1gb ram with future expansion options becuse they run pc's till they bleed and beg for mercy here!. Microdirect are even using Semprons!. Its bypassed me somewhat when these came out. Semprons are an "evolution" of Durons and although they are better than their siblings they are by no means equal to an Athlon XP at the same clock speed. They are however significantly cheaper. As to why it is becoming harder to find Athlon XP's...well..simple. They have also undertaken an "evolution" in the form of Athlon64's. My advice would be to go with an A64, the lower end A64 2800+ CPU's are'nt too pricey and you have a more futureproof system. Failing that go with a Sempron 3100+ (or superior), they are availble in socket 754 format and thus are 100% compatible with A64 motherboards. Again giving you a somewhat more futureproof system compared with that of a Socket A based Athlon XP or Socket A based Sempron (3000+ and lower) setup. Does anyone know any online places which sell second hand computers from like bankrupt businesses or ex lease or whatever? Just somewhere where they could perhaps look at and buy second hand ones with thier much valued 'warranty' etc....they are such stingy bar stewards afterall, lol. Can't help you with this one. Ebay maybe ? For me, does anyone know if "video seven" brand monitors are any good? been looking at 17" and 19"'s for under £270, so semi curious about purchasing a new monitor of somesort without going silly money. Never heard of them but will try to find out for you Cheers Sirius.
