Comp albums are obviously no way a substitute for the original 12's but I used to collect them as an immediate & easy way of getting tunes I wanted on vinyl :)

The only complaint I had was the quiet pressing of some of them (remem the Chi House comps :axe:) but stuff that was dead dead hard to get on 12 came up on these comps (thinking also of all the electro albums)

Out of the ones you list below for me anyways the cream are these:

Full On Edition 1 - deconstruction (lion rock, ramirez, megatonk, thk, visions of shiva etc)

UCR - Colours (manic,tc 1991,b.m.ex,mombassa,unity etc)

But bang em on ebay - expect to get a browney each I guess. :D

I think albums are relative, pricewise. Aslong as its not a 'Dino' label pressing thats quiet as buggery that is.
I still look out for old albums, becuase not only is it a broader perspective of what was about at the time of the compilation and therefore generates an 'era' feel, but usually some of the tunes go for over a tenner each nowadays, so the way you saved on a few £3.99 records by buying an album, you should regain becuase somebody else will be paying say 8-12quid per track or whatever as singles.

Im rambling now arent I?
