Just wondering as I bought one off ebay which the guy said was official and from NYE 90-91 .
I have recieved the CD and i dont believe its new years eve but the studio mix he did with sinead o'connor over yaah etc (which most tunes wernt out then ) It just looks like a CDr with some stamped lettering on.The cover just looks like part of an Eclipse flyer.

Is there any Eclipse regulars who know whether they did CD's , once i'd bought it and had a think about it I doubt they would be pressing CD's then but just doing tapes.
Or mabey that record shop where you bought the tickets (Bang-in tunez ??) may have done them ?

Any help would be appreciated as I have just realized I have won another CD auction off him but for the tune of £31 so I dont want some expensive CDr's ! :ba:

heres the auction anyway

I was an Eclipse lad fella.... they did do 'official' tapes which were sold in Bang in Tunes across the road....they were normal c90s from what I recall & the casette inlay was orange/black

They also had a 4 pack revamp in 94/5 ish which had covers taken from fliers (for instance the cert 18 flyer etc)... obviously Stuart Reid (eclipse gaffer) was tryin to squeeze more money outta it.... also did single tapes in 96/7 ish which again used covers from flyers (ie. the raindrop amnesia flyer).... all the later tapes were eclipse logo embossed... but somehow got cut down from 90 to 60

But this one I think is a dud mate.....if you give us the track listing I can deffo confirm.... in fact I dont Sasha even played Eclipse nye 90/91....

I know he deffo did Shelleys (with Dave Seaman) coz I saw the ticket/flyer on another site.... I know he also did Time @ Aston Villa Lesuire Centre (coz some v kind person got the DVD rip)... dont think he did the Eclipse though.....

King Coe/Noel/StellaDry & Oldskool Dazed will deffo be able to confirm though

So 1st off it deffo aint nye 90/1...

Secondly there has always been debates about this set & I dont know the answer lol... I've seen it float around the net marked up as eclipse 1 & as the apr studio mix...

I wouldnt put it past Stuart Reid to 'acquire' this set & the pass it off as a set from the Eclipse...

But as to the seller - deffo a shady fucker imo who has leeched sets from the net & trying to pass off as originals.... :naughty:

This set is deffo from the Eclipse. It was original labelled up as Sasha 3. I have the original. Shooms is right, they used to sell them in Bang in Tunes accross the road, which incidently is now an Afro-Carribean hairdressers...

They also used to sell them in the foyer afterwards. The first batch of tapes (DJ's: Eclipse 1 and 2) I saw were issued with a cut up flyer which was the orange one with the spiral effect in it. Then I think it was the beasts eye on it as my Groovrider 3 is like that, then later ones just were printed with 'The Eclipse' and the sun logo - my Sasha 3 and some others are like that.

Yeah, I saw that website with them for sale in about 96/97 - from what I could gather, like Shoomster says, they were heavily edited and some of the mixes were combined in a sort of 'best of...' tape, which only confuses things further as they did sometimes combined sets from different nights on the tapes.

Friday night promoters like Amnesia etc. released stuff seperately, although some nights like New Age and Energy were released as 'Eclipse' ones. All tapes from there under that name had The Eclipse logo were very professionally printed on the tape itself, don't let any other fecker tell you otherwise nor, like you see on e-bay all the time, are any genuine copies of mixes from before October 1990 - the club wasn't even open...

As far as I know - I stopped going late in '91 - they never issued stuff on CD under the 'Eclipse', although I think they did when they rebranded as 'The Edge'. They deffo did not release any in my time there so I'm sure this guy is having us on. I think NYE was done by Amnesia that year anyway so it would have been released as an Amnesia mix if he was there, I wasn't so I don't know - I'll see if anyones got the flyer...

I'd report him to e-bay for passing off CDr's as 'original'... arse.
If you want any other mixes just shout and I'll do you them for feck all...

Just got this reply from him after I sent him an email acusing it as fake :hubba:

Well as you can see it is not something i can make at home the sasha eclipse was an original recording .
I used to own a record shop and via a guy called stuart and paddy(they owned the eclipse place) i stocked eclipse club tapes and cds i had 5 eclipse NYE sashas left and that is what i have been selling so throwing the word fake around is a little harsh (i would question your source on this).
If you want a refund on the disc let me know return the disc and i will sort it out mate.
Hope this puts your mind at rest

Hmmm, he's close with the names fair dos. The Eclipse was run by Stu Reid and another chap called Barry not Paddy. Surname escapes me at the mo. I suppose you could ask him to describe them both, but thats a bit extreme... :p Question is why has he kept his '5 spares' all this time and just decided now to flog 'em??? Bollocks.

Anyway, I still stand by that I never saw any CD's at that time. After Hazydayz is done and dusted tonight (see my sig - sorry for the blatant plug there, ahem...:p) I'll get on to some people with flyers and see if they can verify if Sasha played on NYE. Al, stelladry, noel etc. if ur reading this - do you know??? Plus if it was Amnesia they always churned out their stuff themselves with their brand on it. Nah, I'm still not convinced.

Be interested to know what shop he owned and where (Bury St Edmunds is a long way from Cov) and to see a scan of this 'disc' - that might give us some clues...

these where pressed in 96/97

the cd mentioned was released about 96/97

its the one which has a print of

sasha
"live at the eclipse"

LIMITED EDITION

ON THE CD

THE BLOKE PROBABLY SAID NEW YEARS EVE BECAUSE IT SAYS SASHA 1990-91 ON THE COVER.
BECAUSE IT WAS PRODUCED IN 96/97 THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T HAVE THE DATE.

I CAN CONFIRM HOWEVER THAT "THE ECLIPSE"CD IS REAL AS THEIR MAIL ORDER BUSINESS SOLD ME A COPY OF IT
SO IT MUST BE ORIGINAL

WHEN THEY SHUT DOWN THEY HAD THOUSAND OF TAPES AND A FEW CD'S TO GET RID OFF SO THEY SOLD THEM FOR 50P A PIECE. ME AND MY BROTHER (JAMMYDAYTRADER) (WHO'S GONE TO AUSTRALIA FOR A YEAR) BOUGHT 60 QUIDS WORTH...(100+ TAPES)

I ONLY WISH I'D BOUGHT MORE!!!!!!

Anyway, the set is deffo recorded from the original Sasha 3 tape anyway and its deffo not NYE - more likely March (ish) '91. Nice one for getting it for sick squids...
