me and my girlfriend are going to the mission night on friday just a quick question, what kind of music can i expect to hear??? will the oldskool be the good stuff i hear on the dj mixes? im just hoping it wont be all commercial oldskool i hear on the radio. thanks!

erm i'd hazard a guess at fairly dubby proggressive type stuff earlier on, with a mixture of classic house and a few anthems as the night goes on. Sy will play his usual repertoir of anyone of 20 odd hard edged stylee tunes, trip to trumpton, edge one compounded etc and i expect Nipper to play a mixed bag of stuff but cant be sure on that one
wouldnt surprise me to hear some of his own remixes of stuff tbh and Kells n tots will play all the vocal pianoey stuff towards the end. sure brad will correct me if i'm wrong like

the reason was ive been to oldskool nights in the past and most of it has been very commercial. im coming from manchester and we are staying in the queens hotel, at least i can put my mind at rest that it is what i want to here! c u there.

Seriously tho, would have loved to see Nipper play out again. He played an absolute blinder when he did Hazy...very acidy...thats why he's one of the very best...you could never call him a 20 tune kid.

hahaha, i must say tho that sy does actually make a bigger effort at joy (or thats what he always tells me) he plays lots of stuff he used to play at ark. He once did a oldskool hardcore set at joy last year in Bradford @ the Town&Country club which was mad. he must have played about 40 tunes in a hour and fifteen minutes!!!.......We will see what he pulls out the bag on Fri, sure it will be good.
Nipper has been tellin me allsorts, think its gonna be really special..
what the crowd gonna be like? coz u have to say oldskool does attract alot of nobheads ive been wigan pier and maximes and you have to walk around wiv a stab vest on! is it happy and relaxed is what i mean?

Very relaxed, its not like maximes or anywhere in manc (its real bad their), you get a wicked up for it bunch, lots of older folk too, knifes and bottling isnt even a question trust me its much different to the north west scene, Bassline music up here attracts that kind of crowd.e.g stripes and rockports, caps hoods etc and attitude
Also mission club is one of top venues in leeds and would not no way stand for bad folk in the venue.
I think you will be very happy with it all. its cool.
Another point too, mission is very clean with very very clean loo's etc. a nice place to be...

my girlfriend went to leeds uni for 3 years so she knows the area quiet well she has been in mission many times on funky house nights and said its good but never on and oldskool night. she said to me find out when an oldskool night is on in leeds and we will go.
she calls it "my music" coz when we go out i have to listen to all the crappy r+b rubbish. where i live it attracts scallys or chavs what ever you wanna call them!
