Don't feel sorry. I'm doing my degree now, and would still do it with the top up. It's not debt in the fact it doesn't count when you apply for any credit. If you earn a low amount, you don't pay it back (people are not going to come knocking for it). Besides, it's never been 'free', money isn't just pulled from fresh air - someone was loosing out. Why shouldn't the individual be responsible for their own education? Either I pay a little bit through my BACS payments every month (like a tax)...or everyone will have to pay more. I'm not saying I wouldn't like it for free...but where would the ££ come from...probably me anyway, being taxed more heavily. Statistically, I will earn more, and am more likely to have a job that I love. Plus, you can't put a price on being educated. Knowledge gives you choice. I can't wait to get stuck into my career, I know it will be good...I have no doubt. I am doing it later than most (I'm 27 at the end of the month)...but I've seen the alternative, and I didn't like it. I (personally) wouldn't be able to get a job I liked without a degree. The jobs I want, are degree dependant. Also, I'm not being a twat, but I'd like to earn a decent whack. Sorry, I'm shallow. But I don't want to have to struggle through my whole life. :) You spend a lot of your life working and sleeping. So have a good bed, and a job you like, or in your free time you'll just be dreading work. And that is a shite state of affairs is it not. xxx :D
