Talk yourself out of eating stuff through assocation?

I do it quite often lol. Last night i was eating a prawn curry, and i felt a tiny bit of shell. I went straight into number 2 thinking of why i hated the feel/thought of the shell. Then i started to think that its because if i am honest they are dead insecty, and then i thought that it was like a coakroach shell- so infact a prawn is simply the coackroach of the sea:condom: .

I had to leave it after that and just have prawn crackers, which don't count.

P.s i have done it before with spagetti being like mega long worms.

I go off food if I've had something in the past that hasn't been good and that is only associated with the last one being crap

I used to love a cheesecake that was in Morrisons 'Best' range until a dodgy one put me off and haven't had one since :axe:

never done that exactly...buuuuut, i love prawns, but there is that bit that runs down the spine...and basically its prawn shit!!!! Ive stopped eating prawns now...it sucks, coz i love the taste...just wish they didn't mow the bottom of the sea for poo and then poo it out in my dinner!!!

there was a time when i had "pancreatitus" when i was 11 (only 1 of two people under 16 to get it in the uk- they never new the cause-its usually alcoholism or age--- ) but i had some macceroni cheese (sp?) and puked it out after i started with the tummy pain 9worst thing ever) and for years i couldn't even look at it, never mind the thought of eating it!!!!

other than that, food is sweet.

actually am, i was looking at a book about obbsessive behaviours, and it says about how you can blag ur own head about that...like a thought of "I wanna jump in front of that train" obviously u dont, but ur brain just likes to throw a spanner in the works some times i think...uve got to be the boss, and laugh it off...

ive done that at times - been eating something and then the thought of where it came from pops into my head and i cant bring myself to chew it any more and have to spit it out double quick or else id be sick.

A few weeks ago at work i was eating some raisins. I had one that tasted a bit ming so i commented to one of my work mates that 'omg that raisin was minging - and i spat it in a tissue and binned it, lol - my mate said maybe it was a beetle or somat had snuck in amongst my raisins and hid............that did for me the lot was binned........:hurl:

LOL I fking hate it when they don't take that bit out!!! Decent restaurants/brands remove it, I can't eat them if they don't either.

Its not by association, but I can't eat mussles just because when they're alive theyre so fking ugly....squelching away like a giant piece of fishy greb...why the fk would you wanna put that in your mouth!!??!!!

I love the way you describe things in great detail at time cheryl! :D

Any hoo, there's a few foods I can't eat because of the textures and it's not coz I've blagged my own head, I keep tryin the fookers and trying not to be defeated but nope. It's quite a few fruits, normally things with seeds (strawberries etc) or things you have to eat off the stone (plums, peaches etc)

I keep re-trying them but my hands get all clammy and I have to spit em out. I can eat a strawberry if you cut the outside of it off first!

I don't know when my phobia started but ah well......

Another thing for me is shell fish, prawns, mussels, oysters, bleugh..... mingin!
