If I had known this I would have never lost my license!!!!!!

The legal limit for alcohol in a MAN on the breath test is 35 units.

The police are obliged to release you if you blow less than 39 units.

If you blow over 50 units you can forget it you screwed.

However:

If you blow between 40 - 49 units the police are supposed to give you a choice of either a blood or urine test.

These tests need to be carried out by a police doctor who will take up to about 2hrs to arrive in which time your body will have absorbed a substantial amount of the alcohol and a blood test will show you to be in the legal limit!

This didn't happen for me (and many others!) what the police do when you have blown over 40 (41 in my case) is ask 'Do you accept that reading?' To which you will reply, if you don't know any better, 'yes'. Stiching yourself right up!

Whilst not illegal as you have already been offered the code of practice to read (a book the size of a yellow pages which explains all this) it is very bad practice but done ALL the time!

If you blow between 40 - 49 ALWAYS insist on the blood test!!!!

If I had known this I would never have been banned and so share this information with you in the hopes that those dirty fekkin pigs don't screw any of you!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few useful facts which you may or may not know:

Legal limit for alcohol is:

Men - 5 units
Women - 3 units

Your body will have up to 1 unit of alcohol naturally occuring in it at any time.

It takes 1 hour for your body to absorb 1 unit of alcohol.

1 pint normal beer (not stella) = 2 units
1 25ml measure of 40% spirit = 1 unit (be aware some pubs server 35ml measures= 1.4 units)
1 125ml (small glass) wine(12%) = 1.5 units
1 175ml (large glass) wine(12%) = 2 units

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I'd have known half of these things 12 months ago I wouldn't be in the pickle I'm in now!

cheers 4 the info tiggs m8, a lot of stuff I didn't know either!!

A word of caution for you girls it takes longer for you to absorb a unit of alcohol - approx 1.5hrs per unit.

And remember your legal limit is 3 units with up to 1 naturally occuring in your body!

That said there weren't any girls on the course (14 lads) so either your more responsible or better at getting away with it! :D

Up North, pint o tetley
Gonna be arranging my new license and insurance over the next week or so to make sure I'm back on the road straight away!

OUCH...........thats got to hurt.
I bet the insurance is sky high

got to agree with BIGTRUCK on this one, though

1 point i remember wisely

don't drink and drive.......take drugs and fly

(like the time some bloke turned up at bowlers in his helicopter)
THE FLASH BAR-STEWARD

I never drink if i'm driving, but my problem like many other binge drinkers (i.e. any one who goes to the pub regularly, like once a week or more)

is the next morning
I'd never drive if a felt really bad

but sometimes you just know your over the limit
but you feel fine
its bloody ackward

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
final point to note

a very big player in the bradford drug squad
sinks 8/10 pints of bitter most nights at one of my locals and then drives home........... but you never see a copper or police car
around their at that time (10.30-3am)

STRANGE THAT

he' must be too pissed to walk home

Say for instance I had 3 pints of Fosters (4%) - and downed them all in the space of 15 minutes - when does the units count? when they absorbed by your body - ie an hour or so later? or when they are splashin round in yer belly and therefore your breath is loaded with ale fumes coz of whats in your stomach?

Its always got me that one?

Can I have 3 quick ones and then leg it home in the car b4 they kick in?
