I dont think it matters who you vote for - they are all full of
bulls**t and will screw you over once they get in power anyway.

I already pay enough tax on my wages and items i buy, and i pay my road tax in full for 12 months - so they can stuff off cos they are not getting another penny out of me - the absolute robbin gits!!!!

If they start taxing people that way a lot of people wont be able to afford to run a car and that has a knock on effect with the amount of money that the petroleum companies will lose etc etc.. I cant see these companies standing by whilst their consumer base is taxed so badly they cant even afford to buy fuel to put into their vehicles. then car prices will drop so the manufactures will lose out on their millions as no one will be able to afford to buy a car and so it goes on and on.........

All this is of course in the clouds but i think you can see what im trying to say although its prob come over all wonky

""Drivers could pay up to £1.34 a mile in "pay-as-you go" road charges under new government plans.
The transport secretary said the charges, aimed at cutting congestion, would replace road tax and petrol duty. "

What's the problem?

Drive less - pay less. Drive more - pay more. Seems fair enough to me.

I have huge problems with the civil liberties part but can't see a problem with road pricing in principle.

Hmmm I was thinking the same thing.

I dont think this is nesesarily a bad thing either. if it means it gets the women driving their kids to school in their X5's off the road, then Im all for it :D ;)

Tax is quite expensive for 1 year or 6 months for that matter and the price of petrol is ridiculous!! You have to work out whether you drive that much in a year that it would be more expensive than your tax? I doubt I would in my car!

Seriously though, there are deffo some concerns. Like would all cars get charged the same, new or old, big or small? Are different roads going to have different prices? I also dont like the fact they know where you are all the time, maybe they could do it by just the miles you drive rather than tracking your journey?

Disabled people should be allowed concessions or something, like they do with parking.

I see this as quite a good thing :D

No fucking way :naughty:

"Every vehicle would have a black box to allow a satellite system to track their journey..."

So what would stop people ripping the cnut out of their cars and leaving it in the garage? You'd never get charged anything!

And how would it stop congestion? If people were getting charged by the mile, then they'd drive the shortest possible route, which would mean taking shortcuts down A & B roads and housing estates, creating even more congestion!

And as for the big brother thing.... well they can suck my balls!

Agreed on the big brother thing.

On the other would you drive less if you knew it was costing you fixed amount of money per mile? Not the relatively abstract petrol cost, but a fixed, in your face figure? I probably would.

And they can use differential road pricing to push people on to certain roads easily enough no problem.

Im agreeing with you :D

If I had to pay to go and drive to my local Sainsburys (which is kinda just that bit too far to walk) to pick up a packet of cigs, Id deffo be more inclined not to drive!

Standish
I remember watching a programme about this a while ago.

They got a mixture of families to see how this would effect them.

For people in rural areas - it didnt bother them as prices were low - BUT they are worried that more and more cars will drive through green spots, making them busy, dangerous and littered areas.

A man who commuted to the city could not afford the charges 5 days a week, and so had to get the train. This wasted about 4 hours of his day as he lived in an area where public transport was not very good.

A large family who lived in a normal town said that it would not effect them much. It would be the same cost for them to get the bus to work or to drive.
The only concern they had was that they would have to budget more for their holidays, in which they used major motorways and roads to drive to their destination.

Indeed.

Plus, they can suck my sweaty balls first.

I never thought Id hear myself say it, but looking at everything overall, Ive got to get out of this fucking country before I start shooting people in a crazed frenzy or something.

Theyve known this transport crisis has been coming for decades and decades, and they seriously expect alternatives to be found when they havent organised anything properly?

We can give places all around the world £BILLIONS of our money right left and center, but we cant afford to look after ourselves properly, millions are in debt, we have no real productive industry and nearly half of my local Hospital has to close down through lack of funding?

What a load of fucking bollocks it all is, everything, the whole bastarding lot, what the fuck is going on in this madhouse? The whole place is drunk on looney juice.

It's a completely stupid idea.
It's like anything where the political solution has been to slap more money onto something, it doesn't reduce use of anything. It's exactly the same whether discussing roads or alcohol.

Has the congestion charge stopped people driving into the centre of London? Nope, it's just pissed people off having to fork out £8 every time they go. It's a complete joke. I went down last month and it took 2 hours to cover about 5 miles, and it was no different in the middle of the night. There's just traffic EVERYWHERE!

And I live there.

There's less traffic in the centre, and a lot more buses which the charge is paying for.

So, for all the people slagging this idea off, what's your bright idea?

hmm im not so sure. this is going to be ON TOP of the road tax we already pay! yes there will be different prices for different roads.

For me if they want to increase the amount of tax u pay then put it on the fuel itself...the more u use the more you pay......surely thats the most sensible..?

Id also like to know how the government expect me to get to work with all of the laptop and computer equipment I have to lug around with me I can hardly take that on a bus or on a bike!....and it would be good if there was a bus that went from where i live to where I work...at present there isnt one!

for me this is another government excuse to raise more money in taxation....as the nation gives up smoking theyve gota get back from somewhere and the motorists is an easy target for me

Im really fooked off with the way this country is going.....i mean i was lucky I could just afford to buy property....kids coming thru these days wont be able to afford feck all by the time they get to our age....is this what we want?
