alright guys - i am having a problem with a dvd/r that i recently bought off aguy off ebay. It is the Liverpool champions league final epic  and is a 3 disc box set. The only problem is with the main disc  the match itself. It plays fine, but after a period of time, usually approx 50 mins or so it starts to stick/jump/freeze. This copy is actually the second copy the guy sent me as the first one wouldn't work at all. I told him the problems i was having and he reckoned it might be because dvd/r's are sensitive to heat and my dvd player might be getting too hot and causing the problem. This seems to make sense as when i leave it for a while it plays ok :S The only trouble is, as a result i have not been able to watch the game all the way through again as i would obviously like to do. Does this sound like the problwm to you experts, and if so is there anything i can do to keep my dvd cooler and thus watch the dvd all the way through? A few points to consider - it only happens with this particular dvd and no others i have, be them official dvd's or dvd/r. Plus, i have my ntl box on top of my dvd player, could this be causing unwanted heat action? Any help/advice greatly appreciated!! :D

If it sticks at the same parts as the last copy then his masters up the duff:S
Could also be incompatable media with your DVD player (It happens)
Could try copying it to different media if poss?

cheers mate - it doesn't stick at the same place it just sticks after a period of time. Eg. i could watch it from the start and it would stick after 50 mins or so, then another day i could skip into it and watch it say 2 hrs in or whatebver and the same thing happens after about 45 mins or so  Might get a mate of mine to copy it for me again to a different media type as you say - cheers mate  :D

Ask him to send ya another, but ask him to burn it at x2 rather than x12 whatever his burner max write speed is.

I get that prob a fair bit, an usually find that burning it at the lowest poss speed does the trick.

I've got my cable box on top of my dvd player an it plays fine, but might be worth taking it off an see how it plays then.
