DVD Rom drawer help please :$ :p :(

Got a cd stuck in my DVD rom compartment bit and had to writhe at it to get it out and basically wrecked it :axe:

There`s some internal bits broken and the front bit has come off so I may need a new one but can`t (as BJ knows) get into the machine from the side so is there a way through the front or does a shop have to get involved?

They come out front ways usually, only prob is they have a couple of screws at the sides holdin em in, dya mean your pc is totally sealed an ya cant get inside it at all, or just get in through the back? Cos if ya can squeeze a hand through to undo the screws an give it a shove from the back..you'll get it out.

There has to be a way inside the machine, coz they put the cd drive there in the first place.....also, that little hole in the front cover, above the volume control, if I remember rightly, stick a pin or something thin and hard in there, and the draw pops open.

Thats it- open a paper clip at one end and insert into the little hole. Push hard and should release the tray from the lock position. Easy peasy:thumbsup:

Cheers all but its still not happening lol cos the whole thing is attatched with rivets at the back.
There is summat to the side of the front cover which I`m battling with at the mo hehe :S

Paul i cant remember wat case he used bud but i assure ya it really cant be that hard to get in to it lol

If it like mine you either have a few screws to undo or i type of screw thing that unscrews but isnt a screw  lol

Hope that helps

a lot of the new cases dont actually need to be unscrewed with anything but your hands...

stating the obvious there like but give it a go

An old case of mine baffled me for ages cos it didn't have an visable means to get in an looked like it was rivited shut, but one of the side panels (well both in fact, but ya only need to open one) slid open with a bit of pushin an pullin, sometimes you need to take the top of the case off an the side panels will then slide upwards. Cant see it being totally sealed, as you have to able to get inside it for any repairs/upgrades, but if it is...you could always drill out the rivets.
