I'll post this here for what it's worth. It might not change anything (and is a bit long winded:$) but to me it sucks that my feedback was removed because an item eventually turned up after a dispute had started and they then saw fit to remove my feedback.

The seller in question is themanager232

Welcome to Community Watch Live chat. My name is Ryan. How may I help you?

Hello, i'm registering my disgust at you removing honest feedback that I left for a seller.
jiglo1
How can ebay remove buyers feedback when it is genuine and honest?
Ryan Kingshead
Thanks for contacting us in relation to your concern about feedback.
Ryan Kingshead
In order to help you with this matter I need to transfer you to one of my colleagues in specialist team who can discuss the matter with you. Would you mind waiting while I transfer you?
jiglo1
What is the point of feedback if not to reflect an experience
jiglo1
No, that's fine
Ryan Kingshead
Please stay online while I transfer this chat.

Welcome to eBay Live Help. My name is Victoria. Please give me a moment as I review what you have discussed with the previous representative.
jiglo1
OK
Victoria Nolan
Hello James. I am sorry to hear that the feedback you have left has been removed.
Victoria Nolan
May I have the item number so that I could check it for you?
jiglo1
One moment
jiglo1
I'm trying to locate it
jiglo1
It's the Shure carts, but I can't seem to find the id number
Victoria Nolan
That's okay. I'll do my best to help you. Please bear with me for 1-2 minutes while I check this for you.

the item stated ''Royal Mail 1st class signed for'' with an estimated delivery date of the following saturday, but the seller used an alternative postal service that took 5 days longer
jiglo1
So to be fair I left neutral, instead of taking the correct course of action and leaving a negative
jiglo1
because afterall the descriptio wasn't as described
jiglo1
So how can my feedback reflecting this be removed?
Victoria Nolan
Thank you for waiting, James. I've looked into your concern and the feedback was automatically removed by our system as the seller won the case you have filed against them.
jiglo1
But the seller won the case because the items eventually turned up. Not because he was accurate with his description and that can't be fair
Victoria Nolan
I understand your insight about that, James. However, since they have won the case, any feedback for the transaction will be removed.
jiglo1
i also should state that the case should have been closed upon me receiving the item and I acknowledged that the item finally turned up, but that doesn't give the seller the right to dupe customers with an unfair advantage thanks to ebay's policy of removing subsequent feedback
jiglo1
If this is how ebay works then it's my duty as a more clued up member of public to raise this concern with others, seeing as what it seems that you're suggesting is for ebay to then turn a blind eye
jiglo1
how can customers make informed choices if ebay is partaking in this practice?
jiglo1
It goes against the ethos of honest feedback
Victoria Nolan
Please be assured that we are not taking sides, James. Seller won the case, and with this, the feedback was removed by the system.
jiglo1
Ah, but you have taken sides, with the seller.
jiglo1
Purely because you've removed my right as a buyer to leave honest feedback
Victoria Nolan
I know where you are coming from with this matter, James.
jiglo1
I only posted the truth, that the seller claimed royal mail 1st class and instead used an alternate cheaper method of postage
jiglo1
Therefore giving himself an unfair selling advantage
Victoria Nolan
I understand. However, once a feedback has been removed, there
Victoria Nolan
*there's no way we can have it reinstated.
jiglo1
But i'm telling you that your system is flawed and displays a bias, and unfair in instance. By not letting me leave honest feedback, you're effectively allowing other buyers to get into the same situation as I did
jiglo1
I welcome a copy of this transaction too
jiglo1
I can post this on facebook, various forums and to Watchdog
Victoria Nolan
Yes James. You will be sent a copy of this transcript to your inbox.
jiglo1
Hopefully this will change things and make ebay a much more honest experience for all, not penalising buyers and sellers that are more genuine
jiglo1
And the seller has carried on with his pretense
jiglo1
Claiming Royal mail 1st Class
jiglo1
Even though he admitted in the dispute that he couldn't use that method anymore, because it was too expensive
jiglo1
So ebay has handed the seller an invite to continue making claims he cannot keep
jiglo1
It's wrong
jiglo1
My feedback could have warned potential customers
jiglo1
But your system failed
Victoria Nolan
I am sorry if you feel that way, James. I believe I have already informed you why your feedback has been removed.
Victoria Nolan
If you do not have any other issues aside from this, I will need to close the session now.
Victoria Nolan
I'm glad I've assisted you today. Thank you for using eBay Live Help. Take good care and have a great day ahead.
jiglo1
OK, do what you have to
Chat Session Ended, Goodbye. (5010)

for what it's worth, i hope you do post that passage everywhere you can. we see shit like this all the time and only when little guys like you (no offence) kick up a very public stink do these large companies take notice.

had a quick look at the seller's feedback and it's all hunky dory. you can't be the first person he's duped. makes me think twice now about other sellers with 100% feedback. have they argued a toss with ebay and had negative feedback removed too? we'll never know.

sock it to 'em jiglo.

There is no doubt you are 100% right here Jiglo. This is not on, this type of thing must happen all the time. Seller ratings on Ebay and Discogs etc. are kept artificially high by themselves to generate more sales/money. Its infuriating. You would think people would pride themselves on offering a good service and then honouring it. Why let another person down who has put trust in your service, just for the sake of saving a couple of quid. Its embarrassing !
