I set up a snipe on this auction a week ago as I was going to be away when it finished.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4030306203&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

There was only the one tune i wanted and that was Emily Heyl.

I come back off holiday and I am buzzin to see I won the auction for £20. I contacted the seller and told him I only wanted the one record.
I was then told he had edited the auction and removed Emily Heyl within 24 hours of its end as somebody made an offer on it. Grrrr !

I guess its somebody off here , go on own up !

I dont see another record on there I would pay £20 for

Yeah in the past Ive been bidding on a record to find it no longer available cos some opportunist has made an offer..

If you cant beat em join em ;)

if you cant beat em join em? that sux, i just bought a 12" off ebay off someone on here that was advertised as "Vinyl & company sleeve in excellent condition" when on play the A side has a strange knocking sound at the start and the B-side is covered in static and intro sounds like the greasy caf' in the background, in fact, if i can sought it out to record onto me pc im gonna put the mp3 in the feedback, cos tbh, you dont rip people off for a measly few bucks more, just so u can buy an extra pint, lame.

Thats shite, and if they have advertised on here, name and shame

What I was talking about is offering the seller an amount to withdraw the item, its been done to me before and if Im after something really bad, I might do it.. In most cases I cant be arsed

i ate snippers

if you'd bid on it and not sniped it, he would have had to cancel the auction and restart it without the tune, if you snipe no bid shows so he could easily change it to a crap record ..

i might start doing that to wind up snippers!!!!!

q words starting at £200, once the snippers are set up, i'll change it to technotronic 12 hours before the auction end and wait for the snipers to pay up.

There was a bid on the auction before he changed it , so what if the bidder wanted Emily Heyl ? He has shipped the record before the auction ended also.

I'm not that bothered really but I was a bit worried at the time as he sent me a harsh email after I had told him I wanted Emily Heyl stating I should have read the whole thread . I told him that I had queued the snipe up before he changed it so I didnt read the whole auction again when i had won. He then sent me an apologetic email stating that he had broken his and ebays rules and offered me 10 records free + shipping , I declined his generous offer
we have agreed to nullify the auction since.

There are mixed opinions about snipers , I have lost too many auctions lately and lost some bargains because I was out/asleep etc . I know I could bid my highest offer at the beginning but it can get into a bidding war and the prices get silly as in this thread http://www.oldskoolanthemz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32739&page=1&pp=15

I know you sell a lot of records so I can understand why you dont like snipers , as your prices might not be bumped up as much :hubba: , but for me its a great service which helps me a lot.

p.s The guy who got Emily Heyl comes on here ;)
