The wife was in Coventry last year so I hitched a lift and decided to have a walk round to where the Eclipse used to be. Was glad it was still there as a club, even tho the line up looked cheesy as feck, but other legendary nightspots have long since gone so thought it was good news.

That photo of the car park under the flyover just gave me the same goosebumps looking at it as it did when I stood under there last year thinking of lots of memories. We'd train it into Cov and walk down from the station thru the car park and over to moonshine. You used to be able to hear all the different beats pumping out from the cars as you came up to it and many a friendly chat was had under there.

So does this mean its being pulled down for good Al? Anyone know whats going there in it place - luxury flats I guess...

amnesia house was the one i remember the most, rammed to the rafters!

what a night!

Was that the one where it was so packed you couldn't go up or down the stairs? If so, me and my m8 got stuck between the main floor and the middle bit for what seemed like ages. Loads of people just stood on the stairs unable to move anywhere so we all just stood nattering :fekked: .

Wicked night that....

That was the one matt!

Fekking hell! The stairwell! That was my first experience of crowd surfing!

It was so rammed, the bottom room was open! I remember the robot android walking around chasing me, at least thats what i thought!

Shades of Rhthym was there, i met Carl Cox for the first time ever! He gave me his VIP pass as he had already played and was leaving! Will never 4get! It then gave me access to all areas, i ended up on the stage in the main room, threw the pass out to my little sister, she then came up on stage with me and we didnt move from there all night! We thought we owned the stage that, i remember a rather large, painted, polystyrene cut-out of the letter E! My sister and i was throwing it to each other and trying to take big bites out of it!

Will take to this one to my grave! :luv:

It really is quite a long time ago now though when you think about it and all the memories are a little blurry for me i know that. Wish there were more cameras being used in those days so we could re live the images of inside all these clubs we all went to.

Shame.

We spent most of it tho on the middle floor by the fire exit next to the food bar. We held the door open for the food geezer to come in and out with extra supplies of ice pops and he gave us a load free

Shite, I've realised how much I miss it :(

Just spotted this post -

I'm currently on thread reading catch up - Work has been exceptionally busy past 2 weeks - ie in last 48 hrs I've been working 37 of them - yeah I hear the EU work hour violation whistling in my ears and telling my work to FA, but anyway.........

back to this thread - The Eclipse was THE FIRST English venue that I had been to - back in 1990(ended up staying at a m8's house for 2 weeks, just so I could go back again, cause the Drive from Aberdeen is a bit far) :p . This was when I first go into the whole way of life, lol not sure how many times I've been but lost count after 14 lol

Lot of messed up memories from that place - all good ones tho.
