Ethernet?

Got an ethernet cable sent this morning from virgin media saying i should swap from usb as i would benefit faster speeds etc etc, it sent instructions on what to do which were pretty straight forward, switch off at maines, connect ethernet cable, switch back on wait for one min and boot up only problem is i cant connect to the net (so ive swapped back to my usb) ive updated my drivers and tried again but still no internet connection usuon the ethernet cable?

Anyone any ideas???

have you tried ringing virgin? they may need to update your settings or point you in the right direction

Do you have your LAN drivers installed from your motherboard CD?

Also try this:

Right click on My Computer

Go to Properties

Go to Hardware

Go to Device Manager

Go to Network Adapters {click the +}

Right click on Realtek Ethernet

Trying clicking on enable if it is there! or click on update driver & follow what it says!

no option for realtek ethernet all i have is via rhine II fast ethernet adapter???

I recovered about thursday, thats after losing my phone, leaving my jacket + keys at bods and generally being a pissed up loser lol!
