Just developed yet another problem with me motor tonight :(

Was nearly out of petrol earlier and as i was driving to the petty station the Engine Management Light came on and the car started running really shit.

Managed to get to the petty station and filled up and got to where i was going and the light went off.

On way back though its come back on again but with no deteriation in performance

Now i have had it checked before by one og them tuning guys but it costs 30 quid just to connect the comp to the car

Anyone got any suggestions before i go down that route ??

Andy

I don`t trust them tuning chaps and never have. It`ds kind of catch 22 that you have to take it to the main dealer because they have all the gadgets.

On some cars the engine magement light has to be on for while for them to actually be able to tell what is wrong with it.You don`t have to go to the main dealer if you know someone in the trade who`s kept upto date with technology on cars today.

I`m sure when they connect it to there computers that the light flashes so many times to give you a code as to what in wrong with it in the manual.

Yeah i know wat ya mean mate. I think i might be able to get it checked at halfords where i used to work but not sure if they will charge me

Am thinking i might just leave it a few days and see how it goes. Having a speedo cable fitted tomoz anyways as that bloody snapped the other day :( so got enough expense this week

Andy

just asked my b/f and he said...

QUOTE HIM "if it's a 1995 vauxhall it could be a fault in the wiring loom... if it's any later than 95 it shouldn't affect it...

If it's a Ford then your fighting a loosing battle with it cos it will just keep coming back on even if you take it to the main dealers...just disconnect the bulb"

me again...lol, and if it isn't any of those cars then he doesn't know

good luck... i hope it's nothing serious or expensive :)

Hmmm Dashboard light !!! Sure it wasn't 'LOW FUEL' light ?? U say u filled with petrol, light went out and u got home ok !!! ;)

Just joking Andy, I hope u get the car sorted for free or it turns out to not be something too wrong with the car.

Car's are people worst friend - let u get soaked in the rain - by breaking down/tyre needs changing!! OR in the Summer they are like an oven - even with windows open, or AC on full if u are lucky to have that

Ok well anyway rant over hehehe

you might ov already though of this but lettin your petrol tank get so low can lead to the dirt in the bottom of your tank gettin pumpd through hence clogging up injectors etc hence the car would be misfirin and so on try not to let the petrol get so low an see if that helps :mexican:

Cheers John

Yeah i had thought of that actually. The prob was i didnt think it was that low on fuel but after it had been stood for ages it used the automatic choke when i started it thus using more fuel than expected.

The EML stayed off this morning so just gonna run it and see how it goes. :)
