Fastest AMD or Intel??

Gonna buy a new pc and got a few choices, not sure which is best

AMD Athlon XP 3200+

or

P4 2.7 (or 3.0) Celeron

Can anyone say which would be best, mainly for t'internet, burnin dvd's and the odd new game.

Any tips would be good.

i have no experience with the amd cpu chips, but if your looking for the Intel range, stay away from the celeron and go for the 478pin Pentium 4c with 800mhz front side bus. The latest ones have a 1mb cache and are very reasonably priced (133 quid for the 3.0ghz chip from RL supplies watford)

I recently rebuilt and plumped for an XP3000.

The thing flies.

I'm AMD all the way tho, so you're not getting a balance opinion. All I know is that mine is stable as anything and multisluts better than a Brixton crack ho. (not that I have experience of them btw)

I went for a ready built Athlon 64 3000+

Its been mustard speed wise, just keeps freezin now an then tho, it never does it with just games runnin so i think it might be some other programs not agreein with each other or somat, any ideas anyone?

not sure - maybe not enough RAM - mine was a bit tetchy at times using 512, so I just bought another stick of 512 and its darn excellent... ;o)
