When I was about 18, I was going through a mad astronomy phase. I saved up for weeks and weeks to be able to afford a big-ass telescope - exactly like this one...

I can still remember when I first got it. I pointed it at a bright "star" and brought into focus the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Twas the planet Saturn. Honestly, words fail me to describe how beautifull it looked. It looks amazing in photos, but that's nothing compared to when you've seen it with your own eyes.

Yeah, and a couple of its moons.:)

Jupiter looked smart too. You could easily see the different coloured bands, the great red spot and the 4 closest moons.

I've been to a planetarium this afternoon loved it!. Watched a film called "Are we alone?" was really interesting, and funny as there were loads of old people in there and two old blokes had fallen asleep and you could hear them snoring away! :)

Have always wanted to look through a telescope bet it's fab!. No idea which is my fav planet but Saturn does look pretty groovy with those rings :D . Know a few things to look for now they've been pointed out to me, saw Sirius today! :D

I saw not only my first shooting star last week but three altogether in one night!!! I was dead excited!. Saw more stars that night than I've ever seen before because we were away from the city, I was sat on a beach listening to the ocean, full moon and a beer in my hand, ahhhhhh heaven :D

i love everythin to do wit the planets....loads!!!

i have sat and read article after article lol :$

i think i would b inclined to say i love jupiter, its the daddy aint it??
and that bloody storm of his facinates me too, its the size of earth!!!! lol

always wanted a telescope, got a small one when i was a kid, but it never did work :(

or.......that planet X. - even tho its existance is disputed, i reckon, if it does exist, its a clever little shit to not b found all these years.

lol and i do feel sorry for pluto. all because of its odd orbit, it gets accused of bein a comet n shit. harsh lol

Na, unfortunatley I was a bit short of cash about 5 years ago and I sold it. It didn't get a great deal of use, but I really regret selling it. It was one of those things that's just really nice to have, you know...

If I ever get another one though, It'll have to be computer controlled. It was such a pain in the ass, especially on high magnification, to keep manually tracking an object to counteract the Earth's rotation. On maximum power, You could only keep something in view for about a minute. This also made photography virtually impossible.

The galaxy's and nebulae don't look anything like they do in the professional photos though, there's practically no colour at all that your naked eye can pick up. It's mad how those pics are taken - multiple black and white images through red, blue and green filters are then combined to make a colour picture! :fekked: :cops:
