I had to put quicktime on my pc to view some vids, and now when I click a link to an mp3 - like on ebay for example, it's opening with quicktime automatically. Firefox used to give me an option to open with... whatever I'd set to default, or save as...

In the quicktime preferences I've unchecked the mp3 boxes and it's still doing it.

Can someone help me fix this please?

Christ, I despise Apple so much it's not even funny. I mean, how much of a tosser do you need to be to name your company after a fruit?

1. find any mp3 file
2. right click on the mp3 file
3. open with >> "choose program"
4. select winamp (or whichever program you want it to auto open with)
5. tick the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
6. smile again

Solved by the following method:

Start > All Programmes > Quicktime > Uninstall Quicktime

click tools, options, click on the application tab
look down the list untill you see MP3 Files and set this to media player / winamp or whatever you use

You could also try using the quicktime alternative. Its way better dosn't have the habit of taking over your PC when its installed. You can get it here...

Or you can get it as part of the klite codec pack (which i swear by). That also has realplayer alternative and mediaplayer classic as well as loads of other codecs. You should never have any trouble playing anything with that installed. I put it on all my windows machines i use have done for years. You can get that at...

Don't have an aplications tab?? I'm still on firefox 2, so maybe that's why.

You could also try using the quicktime alternative.

Might give that a try if and when I need to view any more applewank videos. Cheers!
