I promised Jonno that i would watch this with him tonight as he has been on at me for ages to. Anyone reck its any good? As soon as he said the words 'gangster film' i thought it sounded wank. Its like me telling a bloke a film is a bit 'menstrual' see.

Am i night for a good or shit night?:)

For what it's worth, I say if you've not seen it then you're really missing out.

It's absolutely brilliant, the best thing Michael Cain has ever done by a country mile (although admittedly that's not saying a great deal). It's the best British gangster film bar none. The likes of Snatch or Lock Stock & two Smoking shits aren't fit to wipe it's arse (if that were possible!).

It's brilliance is in it's no holds barred gritty realism, plus it's got an ace soundtrack as well.

Agree with all of that, I hadn't seen it until last year and was blown away by it

God i was really suprised with this, it was really good. I actually hated the lead charachter- he was a right wanker, loved all the gritty northerness. Great story line, lol you wouldn't get away with all the overt sexist 'slapping womens arses' kinda approach today but hey- twas the 70's lol.

I give this film 7 out of 10.:) (maybe 6.5 actually)
