Say he collected 50 x 50p every day. That makes £25 a day right, say he worked at it solid all year, thats £8,800......x that by 12 years since you last saw him, and that would be £105,600. Take off some living means, say £20,000 over that period, and he would have stashed a whopping £85,600 - enough to buy a decent canal barge with and do it up with essentials .
