Right thought it about time i replyed to yr questions on why we have (for the moment) stopped nights at the afterdark ....
if we had it our way peeps we would glady stay there , as your all right the venue is shit hot .. but havin such a venue can come with its probs ... ie the venue is now extremly old , which leads to many many probs ... (ie bad sound system etc etc ) which are all probs you can do with out when yr a promter tryin to put a night on .. and these all cost money to fix , now for those who may have been to GTs and orbit nights youll have found a rapid drop in numbers of peeps comin to these nights .. so hence if you arent gettin the peeps in you aint makin money to bring your club up to standerd required .. in our opinon one major reason for the low numbers over the past few months is the fact the club is really in the middle of no were (which can be a good thing ) but then you only get traveling peeps comin to your nights , when what you need is a local support base to build from (take maximes or wigan pier they both in town centres and get a hell of a lot of local peeps in , which im afraid morley dont have .. the club is also a twat to find if you aint never been , due to all the one way streets etc etc ... this descison to stop nights there for the moment wasnt an easy one guys and gals belive , and we really didnt wanna do it .. but to put it bluntly if wed have continued there for a few more months GT would have been no more ... no we aint sayin we wont be back there , we just have issues with the club that need sortin b4 we can even think of re startin there .. theres also many other reasons which i wont go into .. but we wont be stoppin nights altoeghter ... we are currently workin on doin various nights around the northwest area at diff venues , H2o being one of them .. now let it be known we HAVE NOT moved to h2o for good .. we just want to keep puttin on events rather than do none at all .. now h20 is a top venue as its brand new (so no probs with equipment etc etc ), its got 3 rooms , the 3rd room which we did the last GT in imo totally reminds me of being in the small room at bolwers !!!was stood in there havin flashbacks !! lolol , and its also in a town centre .... and as a promoter you couldnt ask for more from a club ...
now we know this may make some of you unhappy but what can we do eh ?? we cant please you all .. we would if we could but we cant .... and we have to put the future of GT first ... we are also currently in talks with an other club ( aint tellin you which yet !!!) but belive imo it out does the afterdark 100% !!! all we be revealed over the comin weeks .... ohhhhhh just you wait ...

Yeah thats I went a couple of times - because of the peeps but to be honest its the music that keeps alot of people away (apart from Welly - he`s the one that plays proper old school and mixes it right).

Sorry pauly p , but you are so wrong sayin what we play keep peeps away .. .. if we were to play that style of old skool all night we would have an empty club im afraid .. thats why at goodtimes we try to pick are djs so we play all the diff styles of old skool ( which once or twice we have got Wrong ... ie vibes .. lolol )... i agree that some of wellys sets have been the best outof all djs on some nights , but un.like you when listenin to him , im watching the dancefloor and many time the dancefloor half emptys when hes on , as the stlye he plays is a lot slower than what me or andy plays and most of our guests .. nowadays peeps like the faster stuff or should i say its gets a better reaction .. but the reason we have welly as resident is he is an exceptional dj and it adds another edge to the night ...
or should we just start playin what you call proper old skool all night just to please the minority and leave me out of pocket ??? mmmmmmm??? not a hard choice is it ...

Was also referring to the tune selection of vibes but I suppose thats what would happen when you book a happy hardcore DJ.
Another thing that worries me is the addition of hardhouse and happy hardcore etc... in an old school night. I can understand the need for bums on seats but IMO this explains why I feel this is not for me and why I will travel further afield in search of a scene that caters for an old house bod.

i do see were your comin from matey .. but the truth is old skool aint what it used to be , and it prolly never will .. nowadays you have to cater for a wider crowd (hence addin more rooms) take our nigth we did at the cornmill back in july last year 4 rooms all diff music nearly 1200 turned up , we did an other event there with one room and got only 300 .. say no more ) , just because you dont like what we pay in an other room , dont mean you have to go in it does it now ?? youd stay in the main room .. as youd be in there if we didnt have more rooms ...

Just my gripe but none of the current clubs / events who are trying to recreate the vibe of old school never manage to do that anyway. I realised back in 1992 that it`ll never be the same again. I`m not looking to relive my youth but to just hear some class tunage. This can be done at rehab or basics every saturday and there are no townies there and no happy hardcore to be heard. Its that style of music that upsets me and beleive that its made for kids who drive ford escorts. I`ve always enjoyed free roam of a club that has many smaller rooms playing hip hop / breaks / disco / drum and bass etc... but when I know that happy hardcore is being played I feel the whole club has been tarnished.

and as for mixin old skool with happy hardcore . life used to do it with great success and early hard hiouse .. in fact i think it was nye 96 0r 97 in the main room they had an hour of old skool then an hour of happy hard core then vice verser all night long .. that never seemed to bother the 4000 or so there .. in fact i think htey did it in all there rooms ... at the end of the day tho like you say its personal preference innit .. each to there own ..

Whilst I realise you are in it to make money,and lets face it ,your not gonna do it for free,and no one can expect you too,I think you would be really surprised at how many folk would be interested in just genuine old skool.I'm not critiscing I'm just relaying feed back from some really nice peeps on this board that I respect and know havegood knowledge of what the scene was and would like the oppurtunity to meet up and have the advantage of hearing good tunes.
Whilst I realise you are in it to make money,and lets face it ,your not gonna do it for free,and no one can expect you too,I think you would be really surprised at how many folk would be interested in just genuine old skool.I'm not critiscing I'm just relaying feed back from some really nice peeps on this board that I respect and know havegood knowledge of what the scene was and would like the oppurtunity to meet up and have the advantage of hearing good tunes.
