Some background for those interested - written by the owner of the tapes and a regular of the Hacienda. "Well there was a group of about 20 of us who used to go to the Hacienda, only about 4 of us used go every Saturday without fail, but you know what it was like, you got there and new loads of regulars who went every week. Me and my mate Steve used to be there between 9-10 every Saturday, sit on the stage by the huge speaker directly in front of the DJ box and watch it fill up whilst Eric (a solicitor I was told?) who was the only one dancing this early did some of the maddest (but superb) dancing you were ever likely to see. We would all be warming up as Tom Wainright did the warm up for Graeme, and by the time Graeme came on at about 11-11.30 I would always be on a proper mad one dancing at the front of the stage. Although we had got our hands on various tapes from people we knew, the first tape we actually bought directly off Graeme was the 10.07.91. Someone told us he sold them out of his DJ booth, so we just went up and banged (loudly) on the door, Graeme opened it up and looked a little blankly at us until my mate blurted out “Got any tapes Graeme?”, Graeme reached over to his shelf pulled a tape off it and asked us for a tenner which we duly handed over and ran off like a couple of kids with a new toy. And the rest is history… It took me a while to get one of my mates to let me tape all his old tapes, it was always a bit of a thing that he had loads of old tapes and although he was happy for us all to listen to them he would never let us tape them. Anyway one night after the Hacienda there was just the two of us back at my house listening to the new tape of the night, both off our faces still and I convinced him that it was a good idea to let me drive him back to his parents house at 4.00am, get his graphic equalizer and all his tapes so I could tape them, so that’s what we did. We were still taping at 3.00pm the next afternoon but he wasn’t going anywhere until I got all those tapes taped. A lad I vaguely knew got stabbed in the Hacienda back in 1991 and I am told that Graeme (who he knew) brought one of the tapes “Cork” 16.05.91 into the hospital for him during a visit. As far as the handwriting on the tapes, some are Graeme some are mine." A nice little episode from the past :)
