My, my what an exiting life i lead..........

I am trying to grout the tiles in the kitchen, i am using an od cash card to spread the pre-mixed grout into the tiles. Now when i come to wipe off the 'spent' bits from the tile face, i just keep wiping all the grout out from inbetween as well. Its driving me mad, and taking up too much time.

Any tips gratefully appreaciated.

:S

(Sorry i know this is crap, but i don't know any DIY forums).

I will give the sponge a go, i was using a wet rag. It says you have to wipe it straight off, but what will happen if i let it set a little, the tiles are glazed btw.

Has anyone ussed those grouting pens, sorta like a tippex pen for tiles. They are quite expensive and i dunno if they are shite.

Grouting pens are shite tbh. Best use for them is as tip-ex.

The way i used to grout was to make sure all the gaps and tiles are dry first off. Then I'd grout a set area, say 1 sq m. Make sure it's packed right in by going over it a few times with more grout. Then with a wet sponge simply wipe off the excess. Any bits that you may miss should come off easily enough with a stanley knife blade as your tiles are glazed, but try an get as much as poss off.

The grout your using might have something to do with it too. The consistency of it can cause problems an make it peel out as your saying. If it's a ready mixed one you shouldn't have too many probs really, there normally good. If it's a powder mix one then try adding different amounts of water till you get a better finish from it.

I'm with Northern Star on this one - fingers are the best for the bits in between the tiles, don't bother with the grouting pens.
Just use a damp cloth or sponge to remove the excess from the tile face, then once they're dry give 'em a polish with a dry cloth and that'll get rid of the last of it.

Put loads of grout over the joints to fill in with a large flat card , wipe excess off with a sponge leave to dry till it goes hazy then wipe of with sponge again to buff tiles up sorted

took me about 5 evenings after work.....GOOD FOR BROWNEE POINTS MIND!!! ;)

hey up ya can have as many brownie points as ya like if ya come and do mine hun :p ;)

Grouting pens aren't really grout, they are just a whitener. Any excess grout later, let it dry, then use Sugar Soap on your tiles, you can get it from B&Q, about £3, it cleans it right off, also Sugar Soap is good for getting painted surfaces clean. It does a ten times better job aswell for getting mildew off tiles and cleaning inbetween tiles aswell.
