My PC at work #new# hanged yesterday, and after a ctrl alt delete etc, the mouse kept momentarilly hanging then setting free again like it had hit a patch of glue.
Same was for the keyboard. Pressing the capslock key on and off, it would momentarily stick "on" even though youre pressing the key to turn it off.
I rebooted, and eventually it came up with a checkdisk, it informed me that the "bitmap volume" was wrong somehow and that it was gonna fix it. Only after waiting 15 mins, it informed me it culdnt fix it cos there was "insufficient disk space". This is BULL cos theres over 146 GB free lol.
Now, it takes me about 20 mins to get into windows. Everythings painfully slow, the mouse moves fast but is "sticky" and theres an odd clicking noise coming from the hard disk area now and again, say every three or four minutes.
Only last week, the MBR etc totally fucked up when I installed a printer, and now this!.
I had just got it all smooth too. I think somethings seriously shagged on the hard drive, it cant be owt Ive done I dont think.
Does this sound right to you? Its a Dell 8400. The symptoms are wierd.
Cheers
Sirius.
