Mr Butty Sar !!!

I 150% recommend Sony MDR-V700... they are the muts nuts mate. I did a lot of trawling about before buying any and these little babies are the #1 seller at the moment. Choosen by many DJ's such as Fat Boy Slim and Fugjostle ;)

Fekk Fat Boy Slim, if they're good enough for fug, they're good enough for me, matey! ;)

Butty, if you were considering the Sennhieser 25's, they're £99 in one of the back pages adverts in DJ mag, I can't remember the company though it was a one page advert, erm, in yellow I think. Useful, that. :$

God knows how much these buggers will be: http://www.djsounds.com look nice though.

Just go on fug's advice and get the Sonys, and if he's telling porkies and the headphones are crap, we can all go round to his place and beat him up with flumps and jaffa cakes. :dummy:

Have a couple of links at home where I found the Sony headphones at a top price. I'll post it when I get home.

If you decide to buy clare's headphones I have a spare adaptor that allows you to plug them into your walkman :)

Here's some cutomer feedback I've stolen:

"Amazing cans .. slight bit on the heavy side, not as nice on the old noggin as compared to the Sennheisers HD25s but still even in the loudest dj booth you have ever been in, you will still hear what is in those cans"

"Quality headphones. It"s like having a huge PA system straped to your head."

"Best headphones on the market, like having a loudspeaker in each ear which makes them brilliant for club use."

"The best headphones you can get. They sound great and are actually comfy to wear. well worth the price. BUY SOME NOW!"

"These are the best headphones you will ever get you hands on. Sound quality is second to none and they are very comfortable."

"I just wanna set things straight, some reviews on here say that these headphones are good for DJ"ing but not good for general music use!! i"d like 2 say that my Mixing improve 100% after i bought these headphones because of their dynamic bass, excellent sound quality and frequency capabilities. and as for generally listening 2 music, get real if are good enough for Sanchez, Cox, and Beadnall they are good enough for ANYBODY!!!!! these are the WORLDS BEST headphones bar non."

and in the interest of fairplay... some feedback for the Sennheiser HD-25's:

"The ONLY reason i knocked a star of these is coz of how they looked. They might not look all that great where appearance is important(?!), but they sounds like the mutts-nuts. The sound is punchy, yet crisp-crystal-clear, and doesn"t distort unless you sit on them. That"s just how good these beasts are. So good, that the star i knocked off for appearance had to be put back on again for sound quality beyond excellence."

"Superb cans, the usual clarity of sound you"d expect from Sennheiser is present - even when you think you"re abusing them. I was VERY surprised at the level of isolation, with nothing through them it"s like wearing a pair of ear defenders. Good choice for club use and critical monitoring. Don"t get swayed by the Sony hype, Sennheiser have always made the best (no stupidly long lead on these either :) )"

"In my opinion these are the best value headphones in the DJ market. Forget the price tag and relax in knowing you have the best performing cans around. Thse are like attaching a pair of Genelec Studio Monitors to the side of your head. They let no sound in and no sound out (good for the walkman on the bus) and crystal quality is outstanding. Punchy deep bass thru to crisp trebles they are awesome. They also are louder that any other headphone I"ve ever tried. You need an extra quarter turn on your phones monitor to get other headphones to this level, so if you"re already maxed out...you need to buy these. If the bass gets to loud with these, it doesn"t distort it just starts pumping your ears.

On another tack they are extremely comfy for long sessions and can be warn any number of ways. Wicked stuff."

I don't think it will really matter if you get the Sony or Sennheiser ones. You will have a great pair of cans. I still want you all to come around and beat me with flumps and jaffa cakes please :)

My neigbours have just been looking at me as though I was a right tw*t - I've just been rummaging through my dustbin to find the mag with the advert! :p

Da-Daar!

This was in DJ mag 4-17 May 2002, I know I've seen it since. Cans are at bottom right of page.

Hope this helps fella.

Hey DeeDee, nice kit there... how about sourcing us a nice mixer to go with it...? ;)

When I heard that Kenwood were expanding from their car stereo range and moving into the mixer market, I spent a tonne of dosh on this little baby, but I'm not happy with it at all - the signal-to-noise ratio is well out, and I just can't 'blend' the tunes like I should be able to.

(Note the 'rotary cross fader' - it looks nice but it does bugger all.)
