help needed with yahoo messenger

any pc heads out there that can help me with yahoo messenger.

Every time i click on the icon to open the program, it flashes up, and the dissapears, it leaves the smily face in my tool bar, but when i go to click on it, that also dissaperes...can anyone please help ??:|
