Im goin to London fairly soon and plan to fly down to Gatwick Airport cos if I drove Id get lost :S and I dont think me car would make it anyway!

Now I rarely travel out of Manchester and am in need of some help advice please.

What I wanna know is whats the best travelodge (Gotta be travelodge and not covent garden cos its booked) to book and how much should it cost me in a taxi from Gatwick Airport to the Travellodge.

Any info will be greatly appreciated

there are 5 travelodge's within 14 miles of the airport and they shouldnt cost that much in a taxi to get there from the airport.

There is one at at gatwick airport and you could prob get a train into london. dont realy know how far it is into the centre from there?

I'd be goin on Fri 25th Feb and stayin for 2 nights.

Just was gonna spend a weekend with the missis in the City - Only been once and that was years ago.

Is Gatwick far from the City centre cos Iv looked at flights and its nearly double to fly to Heathrow?

I wanna stay at a travelodge cos with a bit of luck it wont cost me ought cos work have got a business account with em and Iv managed to 'obtain' a card ;).

As soon as I leave Greater Manchester Im useless :S

The 2 of us can fly from Manchester to Gatwick for £127 but to Heathrow its over £220.

Perhaps I could get a train?

London stuff

Hi there... Heathrow is 20 mins or less away from Paddington

Gatwick is 35 mins or less from Victoria - these are both by the "Express" branded service which is about £15 p/person (I think).

Normal mainline services run from Gatwick Airport Station (Blackfriars and Victoria) and the tube runs from Heathrow into town also. All mainline stations at the London end are on tube network.

If you are not fussed about an extra 15-20 mins on your journey, save your money and take the mainline services.

Travelodges will be about the same price in or out of town, as both airport and central locations are 'prime' for respective reasons.

Hope you enjoy yer visit Darn Sarf mate, we're not all mouthy aggressive jellied eel eating Cockney's who drink Stella like it's going out of fashion ;)

2.80 a go is normal
3.00 for a bottle of beer in clubs
5.00 in turnmills a few weekends back (!)

Our salaries might be a little more on the nicer side down here, but I tells thee - it gets eaten up by the cost of living.

Double room rent: £450-500+
Beer: £3
1 mile taxi ride: £4-5+ (£2 just for hailing the thing for some reason)

Pay me debts, save some cash then I'm moving up North - in all honesty, its got to be a choice between Manc n the Pool - reason being that every time I visit either city I am made to feel like family, everyone is sound, and life's that little bit cheaper... and, you lot have better all round 'shopping' up there anyway.
