Right, with no luck on the soundcards not the nvidea or the Soundblaster Audigy zs regarding the recording front, my restore points going missing, and a scarily slow web browser lately, I think it may be time for a format of the C partition and reinstalling windows - Primarily to try and sort the soundcard scenario out because Im getting really stuck now. I may have to return the soundblaster product if it still doesnt record after Ive reset it up :(. So, I suppose Id better get on with it whilst I have some sort of returns rights cos it wasnt cheap.... Ive baught some DVD disks to back up all my data just in case and will probably be doing that tonight and tomorrow just incase I inadvertantly cleanse all the partitions by mistake. The thing thats worrying me is that even if I can find my WindowsXP Install CD again (could be bloody anywhere) I would be missing crucial updates to the windows files, as last time it would not let me update via the Windows Update function because of a dodgy release lol. Therefore, last time, when I was trying to get the patches, I was attacked in under 15 seconds of being online lol. Im not sure how I managed it last time, Ill have to search back and find it if I can. What Im longwindedly getting round to is does anybody have a package of vital windows patches since service pack one? or perhaps a list of crucial update files I can download so I wont get infected as soon as I redo the computer as I wouldnt be able to get them without going on the net, so therefore Im looking at getting them now and sticking them on a DVD disc ready. Also a quick refresher of the proceedure would be good. Im thinking of whazzing the XP CD in the drive, rebooting, starting from cd, choosing to boot from CDrom, then choosing install, then overwriting or formatting (if there is an option) the C partition and letting it roll. Hopefully my other partitions and data will be safe. Thanks peeps Sirius.
