Im goin to have this done in a couple of weeks! eek

Does anyone know how long I will be out of action?

not lookin forward Ive heard ya cant walk or anythin after the op! :| :| :| :| :| :| :|

My dads had 3 of these done and hes 64...he was out of action for about 2 weeks if I remember rightly, but he did have 2 done at the same time and hed left it and left it...if you know what I mean...:S

You'll be fine, I thought I was gonna have to have one about a yr ago, but Id just managed to badly pull a muscle in my stomach from doing too many situps !! :axe: so my stomach all swelled up and I looked like I had something growing in there !!! :crazy:

a lot depends on the method used by the surgeon,

traditionally they have used a simple push it back in and stitch it up, as with most internal stitching you depend on it holding for the rest of you natch, if it bursts then you may need another. some surgeons stich a patch work effect to prevent this happeneing.

a better technique is to stitch a patch over the closed heria, this dramatically reduces recovery time as it is naturally stronger quicker and most peeps are back 2 work in 7-14 days with minor discomfort.

The final method is laparoscopy which is basically keyhole surgery where the surgeon fires mini staples to close the breach, it ain't recommended for the grouin though for obvious reasons.

Good Luck Dan mate... if should be fine... just make sure you tell the doctor in the op room what your in for or you could leave a woman ;)

Apparently I have to shave my wig off for the operation but not the one on my head mind you ;)

Ive had a short back and bollox yesterday to get me int swing o things! :D

went for a pre- op check yesterday and summat dead mad happened - Nurse asked which side it was on so I said my Right side.

So she checked my right side and told me to cough and stuff and said - I cant feel owt there!

So I said - thats mad that it must be deep inside underneath like. So she said - i'll check the left side and next minute she said
"Youve got one on the left though!....(cough) yep - deffo got one on the left!

:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :S :S :S :S :S :S !

"And you might have one int middle aswell!" :eek: :eek: :eek:

I have been on the waitin list now for nearly 3 years - surely I can remember which side its on FFS - I couldnt walk when I did it way back in November 1999!

So what I have to do now is go and play a game of footie so it knackers up again just to prove to myself Ive not gone mad!:axe: :axe: :axe:

What do you reckon to that? :|
