Tryin to build my own PC. I've put the mobo(with on board cpu) into the case atatched up the power and installed RAM. It has on board graphics so didn't need to put in a card.

Switched on and...'no signal' to the monitor. The fans spinning and lights come on, so its getting power. I've tried it without the hard drive (to at least get into BIOS) and tried with (HD spins but won't boot).

thought it could be the on board graphics so tried with me old graphics card (dunno 100% if its ok tho as my old PC lost its signal too, could have been the graphics card.)

I'm gettin no beeps at all. I've also tried resetting the CMOS with the jumpers an also my removing the CMOS battery for a while.

also I've tried starting up with the mobo out of the case incase it was grounded against the case somewhere. still 'no signal' and no beeps.

I cant really think what else it could be except a dodgy mobo/cpu.

Any ideas anyone, before I take it back.

Here's a link to the mobo/cpu website with the specs etc

>>Mobo specs<<

Cheers.

Lee.

Alright Lee

I built my own last year and had the same problem. Turned out to just be me being thick... There was an extra power connector on the motherboard that I'd not plugged in, as my old mobo only had the one main connector I didn't notice. Have a look at the top left of the motherboard, near to where the PSU is and see if there's a second power connector (a square one with 4 pins). Without this connected the motherboard will power up but not do anything, like you're describing. Doubt you're as dim as me so it's probably not this at all but thought I'd mention it anyway...

two things i would check

The same as mike that 4 pin connector supplies 12v more juice to the board to help power all the power hungry components.

Also check the pins on the connector of your monitor, as I had no signal once checked the pins, and lo and behold one was bent-restraightened it and all was okaydokey!

I would more think its the BIOS settings, as you would really get quite sequence of error beeps to let you know there was hardware fault. Lack of beeps may mean that your PC speaker cable may not be correctly connected.

Failing that then sommit else is goosed!

cheers mike, but its not that (unfortunatly!). Theres no place for the 4 pin one from the power supply on my mobo, just the big fat one.

Startin to think its fooked (either mobo or cpu).I think the speaker is connected ok so no beeps usually means dead cpu (i think).

sick of tryin to flog a dead horse anyway, so gonna take it back an get it swopped.

cheers anyway fellas.

I `ve just had a simular problem that everything was booting up but it was giving the monitor it`s wake up call. The first question is is do you know that the speaker works after you reset the CMOS.After i`d reset the CMOS it gave the bleeps to say that my ram was`nt seated correctly. After i`d been fecking about because i kept getting the blue screen saying that i had a problem with some recently installed hardware or sorftware, which i think is beacuse my PSU blew up last week and may have fecked my printer because when i unplugged it it booted up fine. :D
